You're still legit. It was still used by Chinese forces in the Sino-Japanese war leading up to to and continuing into WWII. Furthermore, it was used by Nationalist forces in their fight against the Communist forces immediately after WWII.

The Sturmgewehr 44. Changed warfare forever. A gun that was accurate and could be fired at a decent range, and was Automatic. That or possibly the lee-Enfield because it's typically British.

I also gotta go with the M1 Garand, not just because of the *ping* and the .30-06 cartridge, but also because it was the basis for the greatest battle rifle: the M14 (as well as the M21, M25, and civilian M1A). John Garand was a genius.

George Patton called the m1 Garand "the battle implement ever devised" and this was guy was a tank commander. Few battle rifles have the service record of going to Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, North Africa, Saipan, Iwo Jima, Peleliu, Makin Atoll, Okinawa, and Korea. Plus one more thing...

The Mosin-Nagant has fought in every major conflict since the Vietnam War, and even a few minor ones like Somalia. And yes, I mean EVERY one. It is still kill our men to this day in Iraq and Afghanistan and a new one hasn't been produced since the early 60's, with most being produced in the 30's and 40's. Now THAT is a service record!

Also, it is more bad ass than Chuck Norris. Although Chuck Norris fighting himself is purely theoretical, the Mosin-Nagant fought against itself TWICE and won both times!

How many WWII rifles other than the M1 Garand are handled by Clint Eastwood? and the M1 Garand evolved into the M14 which lives on in both the M21 sniper rifle and Mk. 14 EBR that's used by the Navy SEALs TODAY. Modern fighting forces don't use derivatives of the Mosin-Nagant (not even Russia), but John Garand's system is very relevant to law enforcement (the Ruger Mini-14) and the U.S. military.

Wrong, Finland and Russia still use the Mosin-Nagant to this day as either a training rifle or long range sniper system. Russia uses the SV-98 and MTs-116M, both based on the Mosin action, and the OTs-48k has seen small use and is actually made from old Mosin-Nagant rifles. Finland, up until 1997, used the M28-76 to keep the USSR at bay and kick our (the US) asses in military marksmanship contests. Lapua, STILL produces ammunition for this and Fin. variant Mosins to this day and all Sako medium caliber bolt action rifles except the TRG series, are based on the Mosin action.

not at less than 300 yards,where the AK maintains it's accuracy, and outside of 300 yards is almost impossible to hit with an M1 because it can't have optics mounted to it. Also inside of 300 yards, the AK47's 7.62x39 has the same kinetic force as the M1's 30-ot-6 or even the M14's 7.62x51 NATO cartridge.

Spoiler: implying that the M1 Garand *can't have optics*

Plus, just about any American WWII or Korean War infantryman would tell you that the rifle has an effective range far greater than 300 yards, and trained soldiers can accurately shoot that far with iron sights or adjustable rear tangent sights for range and elevation, since back in those days they actually trained soldiers to shoot well without any of the fancy "red dots" or "ACOG."

We're not talking about Call of Duty.

FUCK AND YES. My unbridled delight at seeing one of these on a crate in the very room where the game starts in Fallout: New Vegas was just the first of many "this game is awesome" moments.

"9mm Submachine Gun"? My favorite earlygame weapon by far. Because it's clearly an M3.

Definitely the M1 Garand, it's one of the only two period weapons I have ever fired in person (thanks to my uncle, who owns two). And. It. Is. Awesome. A close second would be the Mosin-Nagant, which I own, and its really fun to shoot. And I'd jump at the chance to try out a Mauser and not just the Kar98. Any historic Mauser really.

Well I have a couple guns that I really like from WWII.
One being the Mauser Kar98k. Love that bolt-action rifle.
The PPSH-41 (or as I call it the 'pppssssssshhhh') is a damn good submachine gun at close range.
And of course mention has to be given to the Sturmgewehr 44. One of the first true assualt rifles. Of course Hitler was an idiot and didn't like them...
