Dead tie between the Tommy Gun

...and the Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR

These weapons were a big part of the arsenal of overwhelming firepower that helped the U.S. carry on the fight in two different theaters and come out on top.
No, that was the overwhelming numbers compaired to the Axis. As far as i'm aware, as far as guns go, they were both impractical and unreliable.

Any 'one-shot' calibre weapon.

- Mosin-Nagant
- M1 Garand
- The German version [ Forgot name ]

It's satisfying to reload after each shot again and again, love those weapons!
Uh...the M1 is a semi-automatic weapon. Maybe you're thinking of the springfield M1903?

I pick the 1911, still one of the best handgun designs ever.

That or the semi-automatic L39 Anti-Tank rifle, the first "Elephant gun". Fired a 20mm projectile and was used to lay waste to soviet armor, bunkers, and low flying aircraft by the Fins. Weighed over a hundred pounds.

I love that gun. You could equip it with a scope making it an automatic rifle that is good for sniping and for mowing down troops... Fantastic :D

I'll be the dirty bastard American and say the M1 Garand. Boom-boom-TING! =D

I really want to get my hands on one... On the plus side, if my friend ever gets DOWN here, we're going to rent the Thompson at the local range. =D
M1 Garand indeed. Boom-boom-ting indeed. Just retyping your words made me smile.

Some german single-handedly killed hundreds of American troops using this weapon on D-Day.
They must not of been using video game logic, everyone knows you should jump behind and a boat and sharp shoot from there :p

Dead tie between Mosin-Nagant and the M1 Garand. I own both and both are excellent weapons.
Own? Sweet.
Yeah, the M1 was my grandfather's from the war. He taught me how to shoot on that weapon and when he passed bequeathed it to me along with his officer's Colt .45. And the Mosin I got at a gunshow in Texas for about $150.

I don't have much first hand experience of any weapons from WW2, and by that I mean, no experience at all.

All I know is from video games the guns were featured in, and reading the technical qualities of them.

That being said, seems the Germans had by far the best weapons.

MP 40, 44 (AK 47 precursor), various Machine Guns, etc.
