Your favorite youtuber, and why?

Got to love me some Egoraptor and JonTron. I've been a fan of Ego since I was a kid, and JonTron is the only internet entertainer I've found to be on his level.

I'm a big fan of Polaris, specifically Friendzone, though, but they are a company. Maybe this thread would have been better if it was "your favourite youtube show, and why?"

Depends on the type of content really. For gaming news and first impressions I watch Totalbiscuit. For reviews I check out if Angry Joe has made anything. His reviews are quite entertaining to watch, have some good analysis, and he's overall pretty adorable, if a bit overzealous at times. For Dota stuff, Purge of course. Podcasts, noone really, they are usually too long to bother with. As for LP's, I don't usually watch any, but TheAuZZieGamer's videos are absolutely hilarious, even though he makes them very rarely.

You don't watch the Co-optional podcast? I love me some TB. It used to be the TGS podcast, but now it's on Polaris.

I have a lot of favorites. Youtube is my primary source of entertainment, after all.

But if I had to pick one, it would be The Game Theorist. He's really sky-rocketed in popularity lately. I wonder where that came from...

Anyway, the guy tackles some of the most difficult questions in gaming with math, science and the like, all while making it very entertaining to watch. The guy's super smarticles and has a good sense of humor.

Two Best Friends Play, just two guys and their frequent friends Liam and Woolie playing games, referencing stupid obscure stuff they remember, telling stories from their lives, and finding so much crazy shit in the games they play. Their amount of content is amazing too, one or two 20-50 minutes videos a day is amazing and there is never a dull episode. I think the fans do have alot to do with why I like them since basically everyone of their fans is very passionate, and not in the pewdiepie sense of finding anyone who disagrees with them and belittling them. Oh no they are all passionate for the actual content so even something that is mentioned once can become a fan phenomenon and everyone will get the joke.

Nah, too long and too awkward. As for Polaris, I really dislike what they're doing with the channel to be honest, too clean-cut, too colorful, too much fake cheeriness, too much Pewdiepie. It just feels dishonest, like a mass marketed product rather than a gaming channel. Where's the passion? The opinions? Why does everything look like a pop song videoclip? Disgraceful.

They're my favourite spin-off members of the Retsupurae gang, but Chip is also a ridiculously good LP'er, in terms of the amount of production that goes into the videos and the information he gives about the games (as opposed to just making the LP a vehicle for internet fame).

Probably Two Best Friends Play Zaibatsu, Matt, Pat, Woolie, and occasionally Liam. Amusing commentary, a pretty cool fan base, and actually fairly insightful commentary, since they actually have experience in the industry.

The storm of content also helps.

Hmm, probably GophersVids, ReformistTM or veriax.

GophersVids does a lot of modding stuff, but also extremely good LP's of Bethesda games, and a couple of other things on the side. All very professional, with excellent commentary.

ReformistTM does mostly Mount & Blade: Warband mods. Another with excellent commentary.

veriax does a lot of different RPGs. Though I haven't watched his stuff lately because he's doing Dragon Age: Origins, and not even his great commentary can save that boring game for me.

I'm a fan of pretty much everyone in the NorthernLion circle, including a lot of the extended family. I love them for bringing my attention to indie titles that may have otherwise flown under my radar. I also love them for being a great mix of funny and intelligent, and for having great chemistry with eachother. It's also nice that most of them are good at games without being total pros. There's always a chance of both success or failure when they play, which keeps it more entertaining than just watching someone beast through everything.

My second tier of YTers are WoodenPotatoes, TotalBiscuit and EpicNameBro.

It's just a bit of fun. Have you seen Friendzone? I'm a big fan of Dodger, as I think she's a lot more professional and a lot better at being an entertainer/public figure than a lot of youtubers.

I like it. It's more grown up and professional. Everyone still has their own channels, Polaris just acts as a central hub which can provide extra content with an extra budget. It means our favourite youtubers get more cash, get more opportunities and ultimately more recognition, which they wholeheartedly deserve, considering how much shit they get from the youtube community and how little pay off there is in doing what they love.

It just means they can get the support and budget they want to pull off greater things. And besides, it's not like we're paying for the content.

My favourite youtuber is definitely Seananners. That guy can have fun doing anything, is hilarious to watch, and actually makes you want to play. From what I understand he's also a really good person. Basically the man-child with a heart of gold.

Ranter: Can't say I know a lot but the semi obscure AlphaOmegaSin always has his heart and mind in the right place. He swears a lot though. A lot. More than the nerd.

Lets Player: I used to watch PewDiePie a while ago, but I'm going to give another vote for markiplierGame instead. Though the also semi-obscure StorpMella, GameSomeNess, and ChronoGear, all do some really good stuff.

Reviewer: I'm boring. Yahtzee or the Nerd (not that I watch either on Youtube, but whatever).

"Mind Series": Yeap, Freeman's mind and Shepard's Mind (Opposing Force) are right at the top.

Daily content is nice. Short and sweet videos is nice (I can do without 15 minutes of crap thanks). And most of the time they're hilarious. Occasionally we get animations depicted from videos which is nostalgic and makes them even funnier oftentimes.

I also like Birgirpall for similar reasons, but the content lately has been few and far between sadly.

Yogscast are ok but you have a lot of shitty let's plays to ignore before something interesting pops up.

RoosterTeeth I like for RvB and RWBY and GameFails but everything else is terribly obnoxious.

Northernlion I like for the reviews, I usually find myself agreeing with most of his opinions. Plus lately I've been really into his grand strategy let's plays, not entirely sure why.

Of course Freddie Wong. VGHS is incredibly cheesy but the characters are interesting enough and the production quality is high which is nice. And Calhoun(?) is just a fantastic character.

Then there's some of the MindCrack guys. Especially Etho and PaulSoaresJr. It's nice to just sit back and chill out with their calm commentary.

Finally I occasionally watch Happy Hour for the short satirical animations. A lot of their content is brought to them by Hank & Jed productions (Doraleous and associates creators).

I have to disagree with your definition of "professional". This is Youtube, not CNN. Youtubers become known due to a combination of well researched, well presented content, as well as their personalities. There are no personalities on Polaris. Everything is 100% politically correct, everyone is neutered, every corner has been rounded so as to not offend anyone or cause any sort of controversy. The videos in their entirety, from the tone, to the color scheme, to the backgrounds, to the makeup, clothing, editing, even the thumbnails, everything looks like something you would find on a channel for teenage girls, not a gaming channel. I understand, they want to make more money, but is making everything bland, fake, painfully mediocre and covering it in pink bubble gum wrapper the way to do it? I guess we'll find out. I'm fairly certain however that, whatever their target audience is, I'm not part of it. And yes, we do not pay for the content, but we watch their ads and help them make money. If we reward bad things by watching them, we will eventually stop getting good things. That's how it works.

MikkroBitti, they do really good fan trailers that you could be forgiven for mistaking them as official. The first time I saw this was around the time of the release of the full trilogy set. I seriously thought it was the official trailer BioWare was using for it.



I've also recently gotten into Zefrank's "True Facts" series. Which is absolutely hilarious.
