Yeah, this is a shameless take-off of that "best game of 2010...so far" thread, so for me and the other audiophiles or even just music fans on the Escapist, tell me-What's been your favourite/best album of the year so far?

Hands down for me is Fear Factory's new album Mechanize, which I gave a glowing review to a while back. It's a return to form after their last two largely poor albums, hailed as the best since their 1995 classic Demanufacture. And it's absolutely awesome.

So post your favorite album/albums of the year here!

My favorite so far has been "Gravity of Light" by Tarot. It's not their best album, but I still enjoyed it. My favorite song is Rise!

Well, I bought Led Zeppelin 1-4 this year, so I'm going to count those and say that Led Zeppelin 1 is my album of the year.

Gaslight Anthem's American Slang is the only album I've gotten so far, and it's epic. Though I'm waiting for the new Arcade Fire album before deciding, because the tracks I've heard from that sound amazing.

There's been so much amazing music this year that's it nearly impossible to pick a definitive best. It's hard enough just attempting to narrow the choices down a little, but put a gun to my head and I think it's a three way tie between:

I've mentioned Fang Island's self-titled debut album on this site like 10 times. It's simply the most fun I've had with music in a long time.

Crystal Castles self-titled debut album was incredible, but their follow-up Crystal Castles II blows me away.

Broken Social Scene has been one of my favorite bands since You Forgot It In People and Forgiveness Rock Record lives up to their name.

Everyone on this forum will completely disagree greatly but I think Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 by Raekwan was a work of art.

I have to go with the Broken Bells album. Danger Mouse and James Mercer have produced something wonderful.

I think Circle of Dead Children's Psalm of the Grand Destroyer's done it for me so far.
I'm still waiting for Anaal Nathrakh's latest to come out.

Favorite album so far this year you ask? Good question! I suppose that would probably be Orphaned Land's new album The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR, which I liked so much I made it the inaugural entry in my Guide to Good Music [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.188243-Gildans-Guide-to-Good-Music-Orphaned-Land-The-Never-Ending-Way-Of-ORwarriOR]. Huzzah for Israeli progressive/folk metal bands.

For me its either Head First by Goldfrapp

Katie Melua's The House

or The Family Jewels by Marina and The Diamonds.

I chose my favourite track from each album.

Contra by Vampire Weekend

It probably isn't as good as their debut album, but it's still pretty good.
