Probably Portugal. The Man, although I haven't been listening to them as much since their incredibly disappointing performance at the Sasquatch! festival.

I'm kinda surprised, and disappointed that only one person mentioned Queen.

My favorite band is Queen.

*Animal Collective (psychedelic pop, freak folk)
*The Mars Volta (prog. rock)
808 State (acid house, techno)
µ-Ziq (experimental drum and bass)
Nujabes (instrumental hip-hop, RIP)
Owen Pallett (Baroque pop)
*The Antlers (Alt. rock)
*Vivian Girls (lo-fi, punk)
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs (shoegaze)
Blasterhead (hardcore techno, DnB, acid, ambient)
DJ Technorch (Hardcore techno, DnB, big beat, ambient)
Amon Tobin (breakbeat, jazz)
Ceephax Acid Crew (acid house)
Venetian Snares (breakcore)

*Their popularity is more contributed to word-of-mouth on the internet rather that mainstream media rattling on about them.

TRUE HIPSTER CRED:
Dinosaur Feathers (folk rock w/ lyrics inspired from the 50s and 60s. Fantasy Memorial is probably my pick for Album of the Year)
Gangpol Und Mit (Not sure what to call it, but imagine the music from Banjo and Kazooie on loads of drugs)
Big Black (not really hipster cred. Punk, noise rock, and not something for the easily offended)

Brian Eno-core:

Albums by him:

Here Come the Warm Jets
Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)
Another Green World
Before and After Science
Ambient 1: Music for Airports
Ambient 4: On Land

Berlin Trilogy (produced with David Bowie):
Low
"Heroes"
Lodger

Talking Heads (Eno as producer):
More Songs About Buildings And Food
Remain in Light
Fear of Music

Eno and Fripp (founding member of King Crimson):
(No Pussyfooting)

Eno and Budd:
Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror

I also made a beta "Essential electronic" list recently which can be viewed here. [http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/6738/thebetalist.jpg]

Isn't your avvy a CoB album cover? It reminds me of one...

Anyway, I would really like Children of Bodom, but I don't really like screaming, so...

Probably right now I like Judas Priest the most, just because of Rob Halford.

Reverend Horton Heat is a close second though. I go more by song then band though, as certain bands will have mostly shit songs but the occassional good one (don't yell at me, but Nickelback is a perfect example).

The Beach Boys! People dismiss them as being a cheesy surf band (probably because of the name), but in reality they're one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Brian Wilson is a genius, and just about everything they put out between 1966 and 1971 is fantastic.

Indeed it is, it's from their live album Chaos Ridden Years.

I'm going with the Gorillaz, even though technically it's just Damon Albarn and then a bunch of featured guests.

First ten artists showing up on shuffle mode are as follows:

The Heartbreakers
Scar Symmetry
Bad Religion
Warren Zevon
Eric Clapton
Papercut Massacre
Streetlight Manifesto
The Ramones
Social Distortion

Fairly representative sampling there.
