Hiya escapists.

It's time for another round of Asking the community trivial questions, but let's keep the "creepy and/or disturbing" out of it today.

So: What's you favourite board game, folks?

My favourite is none, because board games are things you keep in the closet, thinking of them as something fun until you finally get around to digging them out and playing them, at which point you remember how boring they are.
Board games have some sort of spell cast on them that makes it impossible to remember that they aren't enjoyable if you aren't currently playing them.
The moment you put the box away your mind slowly starts forgetting how boring it was to play, until you once again get it into your head that you should try playing one of those board games that you never take out of the closet.

Edit: Oh wait. I just remembered. Alias [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alias_(board_game)] is fun.

Chess is ok I guess, however my "Favourite" board game is Monopoly (Even though I suck at it).

And to keep this from being a low-content post, here's the Nerd talking about Mousetrap:

Has anyone ever really played a game of monopoly to completion?

Really not into board games that much, as I feel that video games are the next step in the evolutionary tree, and are way superior. Small World is fairly good from my limited experience of it (I know it's for noobs, but it's fun). Otherwise, it's got to be monopoly.

I like Monopoly and Cluedo they're both pretty shit. I've got the Simpsons editions of both games if anyone cares to know.

Scrabble, followed by Cluedo.

EDIT: I also like Articulate as a party-game. (The type you have with friends of your parents at New Year's)

Damn, I remember that game. I used to play it as a kid.

I think I might even have completed a game without throwing a hissy fit once.
...
Once.

I loved that game - still dig it out whenever someone suggests Monopoly, as it's quicker and more fun.

Had the computer game version as well when I was younger, which had awesome mini-games for the little sideshows.

My favorite board game is Battlestar Galactica, but we also play Game of Thrones and Last Night on Earth. My group is starting up a game of Risk Legacy sometime soon too. Monopoly and its ilk are casual tier. GET ON MY LEVEL, SON.

I'm fond of the game of Life personally. I really want Crossfire though. The commercial is still stuck in my head. As for classic games though checkers is one that I like...Oh, one more! Connect Four.

Apples to apples, althogu it does not involve a board. Basically you get noun cards and someone draws a verb card and whoever gets the best one wins. Look it up.

Battlestar Galactica, followed by Imperial 2030, Cosmic Encounter, and Race for the Galaxy.

@ OP: If you think games are boring you have been playing all the wrong games. Settlers of Catan is the basic intro game but I would recommend Cosmic Encounter or Munchkin if you are looking for a really good time. I've almost quit playing PC games because I play board games so often now, newer games really are interesting and a lot of fun.

I love me some unchecked capitalism... Monopoly, add the element of striking deals and writing your own chance cards, and you have one hell of a long game.
