[HEADING=1]JoJo Proudly Presents:[/HEADING]

[HEADING=2]What has been your favourite Christmas present?[/HEADING]

So, in the spirit of the festive season, I've wondering: what Escapists has been the very best Christmas present you've ever received, whether it's real world value is great or small.

So, when I was around seven or eight I asked for a plushy cat among other things. Why? Dunno, I remember I used to like cats a lot back then. So anyway, when I woke up that Christmas morning and opened the present that felt soft. My expression was somewhat like this:

Inside was this:

For a look from another angle, here it is:

At first I thought 'what is this?' and I was disappointed by it's lack of resemblance to an actual feline. You'll observe for example the lack of limbs. Over time though he grew on me though and since I always liked tabby cats, I named him Tabby Fat. Later he became the Prime Minister of my toys for a while and then a god in the religion I created. Now over ten years later, he is a permanent figure in my personal mythos and my favourite remaining childhood toy. Thus Tabby Fat is the best Christmas present I ever received and I don't see that changing any time soon.

So Escapists, what's your favourite Christmas present that you've ever received?

Well my best ever xmas present is probably the teddy bear I received on my first xmas at the age of about 2 months, it was always my favourite toy. It's name was Scotty and it was tartan, but is now almost completely patchwork.

I'd post a picture but that would make me vulnerable to my twitter enemies.

Edit:

That's both adorable and delightfully odd :)

A triple-wammy gift back in Christmas of 1999 when I received not only Metal Gear Solid but I also received Legend of Dragoon and, Final Fantasy VIII. Now understand, up to that point all I had to play on the family PSX was one of several demo discs, Madden 98/99 and, Nascar 98/99. I finally had good games and I still have those very games to this day! Ironically, I still have yet to beat Legend of Dragoon...

MONEY!!!!!!!

But, seriously, getting a 100 dollar gift card to Toys R Us was, like, winning the lottery when I was young and it was 2004... Plus, it was the first time I thought I had complete control over what I wanted for Christmas... only I had to wait about two weeks after Christmas to use it as well as only using it at this one particular Toys R Us store near me that year...

Bought 5 GBA games on the cheap, including Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and the Strategy Guide to one of those games...

A Furby, when they first came out. I like to think about who my mom had to kill to get one (because it was the newest, best thing and you couldn't find them anywhere), also the first thing it said when I opened the box was "I love you".

These days the creepy thing just gives me nightmares.

For gifts though that I still remember fondly, my PS2 and the first game I ever got for it was Jak and Daxter. My parents didn't even know that's what I wanted, they just knew me and were able to choose a system and a game I would enjoy.

The awareness of my rapidly approaching demise and the utter oblivion that will follow it. It's a gift I open every time I wake up.

Seriously though, probably my Kindle. My dog has a habit of eating books that are left lying around, but is completely uninterested in anything not made of paper, which means since I got the Kindle, I can actually finish books before they're digested.

Probably a toss up between these two.

I mean these things were like gold when Toy Story first came out, every kid wanted one and I get flashes of Jingle All the Way imagining what my parents must have done to get it.

Then there is of course these!

One Christmas when I was 10 my mum bought a box full of Lego from the loot, it had the old pirate ships/islands and everything and it was totally awesome! I must have spent literally days out of my life playing with these things and I still have them now, in fact I often joke with my mum that if she ever sells them then I'll kill her, just to make sure she knows not to get rid of them.

Tradition in our house growing up was always open one present on Christmas Eve, then go to bed. So one year I picked up something and was ready to open it, buy my mom kept telling me to choose something else. I kept saying no, and it went back and forth for a long time. In the end, I opened it. I don't remember which game it was, but it was a Gamecube game.

Kind of a disappointing way to learn I was getting a Gamecube, really. :p Because I had to go to bed and couldn't open it.

Don't know if that's my favorite, really. I do know I was always super excited to get the full colour Garfield Sunday Strip compilations. At one point in the 90's I had pretty much every Garfield book ever printed. I do remember sneaking upstairs to hide in my mom's room and read one instead of helping get the house ready for Christmas Dinner one year. I think that was the same year The Last Unicorn was on TV in the afternoon, so it was a pretty damn good Christmas.

First year without my parents this year, so it's going to suck. Possibly most exciting present this year, though, which will be them paying for me to fly out and see them... but I can't go until February.

Geez, I wanted that Lego pirate set so bad when I was a kid, but we couldn't afford it. My cousin got all the Lego he wanted because his mom spoiled him rotten and she worked for the Government, but my parents could not afford Lego at all. Made me so sad. I still dream one day of finding and buying all those pirate sets. Now it's all movie or game based Lego, nothing original and it makes me sad.

I remember getting my PS2. It came with Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex, which I feel is unappreciated as a Crash game. Back before he got shit... :'(

I also remember when my sisters and I got push scooters, which we then proceeded to ride around the living room, ruining the wooden flooring.

I believe my first Gameboy Advance (along with a copy of Pokemon Gold) was a Christmas present. That gift is what introduced me to me favourite hobby (gaming), so it'll always be special for me.

I'm getting quite a bit of money for my birthday (day before Christmas, sucks) so I'm going to buy myself what is rapidly becoming a very expensive set of lego pieces to build a big lego house with. It will be so awesome ;^;

Prior to that, my favourite ever present was Boktai & a gameboy advance to play it on, technically a birthday present but when you're Christmas Eve baby they're pretty much all the same.

One Christmas my mom showed up to wish me a Merry Christmas and spend the day with me.
That was a better present than any amount of money or object I've received before or since.

Since I never got that Teddy Ruxpin I always wanted in preschool, I would have to go with the Sega Genesis I got for Christmas in 1991. I wanted an NES so badly because my cousins and best friend had one, but my mom got me and my sister the Sega with Sonic the Hedgehog instead because it was newer. I hadn't even heard of it at the time, but quickly fell in love with that console. Sometimes I wonder if I'd be in a different profession, if it weren't for that present.

You know what? I can't really remember my favourite Christmas present ever!

The only one I can thing of was getting this-

While I was somewhat thrill when I open it but I wouldn't say it's my favourite since I knew I was getting before it and my favourite would be the ones that came out as a suprise present that I didn't expect (I just can't remember which presents was like that).

Probably the big box of 7.62x39 rounds I got from my dad last year to tell the truth. That was the gift that kept on giving, and giving, and giving, until I ran out....was fun though. :D
