No disrespect meant (to either yourself or JSB), but because every ClassicFM DJ and his/her cat/dog has played that half a million times over it's enured me to the artistic merits of the piece... so I don't find it that appealing. Other's may feel differently. *shrug*

Thank god I don't listen to the damned channel any more...

Speaking seriously, though, even on its own merits, I think that Bach wrote better emotive 'slow movements' e.g.

Different format and the soloist is being a bit dramatic, but I get a better sense of melancholy out of it.

Different folks - different strokes I guess, but I love "Air". Then again, I did not have the misfortune of having it shoved down my ears by any Radio DJ, but I did have the good fortune to witness it being played live by these guys:

Frederic Chopin's "Waltz No. 7 in C Sharp minor" is pretty nice (massive understatement).
However, I believe Chopin is regarded as more of a romantic period composer than classic period and I'm sure any classic listener worth their salt has listened to Bach, Beethoven and Amadeus enough times to make their ears bleed.

Beethoven's 7th (specifically the larghetto, I think it's called). I used to listen to that over and over whenever I needed to study; it's repetitive, but in a good way.

Well, because I was watching Torchwood, I failed to get the inb4 Moonlight Sonata.
Eh, oh well.
I can't choose so I'm going to have to go with every one of Chopin's Nocturnes.
I think for most of these I prefer Janusz Olejniszak's renditions best, but for the Opus 55 No. 1 I prefer Rubinstein's. It's just so perfectly done...

It's a shame his Nocturne Opus 55 in F Minor (My previous favorite) was ruined by being in the Witcher 2 commercial...

I can't stand Rachmaninoff, too much going on to fully enjoy the piece.

There are so many great ones like In the hall of the mountain king; All of Beethoven's cello stuff; The thieving Magpie; Hungarian rhapsody.

But I can't go past the musical brilliance of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. It is a jazz infused love letter to New York and every time I hear it, it just makes me feel so happy.
