Hands down, favourite cover of all time is Motorheads cover of Enter Sandman. The main instrumental part is mostly the same, I think the solos are slightly different, but the way Lemmy sings it is just so gooood! Metallica wrote this song, Motorhead MADE this song.

As much as I love the massive attack original, this one is really good

This one is cheating since technically it's an original song, but a significant portion of it is nicked so I think it counts :)

Have to add this one

Crystal Ship by Chris Whitley (Orig. The Doors) - There's no decent quality version on youtube.

I love cover versions, I'm a collector of sorts.

You guys/gals/transexuals/mods/mutants/Daystars ever heard of Crow'sClaw? They're a doujin band most notably of Touhou music, however...

Here are my submissions. I swear it is purely coincidential that Jack White is involved in both:

One of the reasons why I love Jeff Buckley is because he had a habit of taking excellent songs and making them even better. Case in point:

I am going to get flak for this. So much flak.

But this is awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Holy shit that is awesome. Then again, I like Muse quite a bit. They seem to get a lot of unwarranted hate from some of my friends. (By the way, where can you get that track?)
Well, Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower is a no-brainer, so along the same lines,
I've always maintained that while Bob Dylan is a great songwriter, every time one of his songs gets covered the result is almost always better.

Oh hell yes, I love that version. The bass line alone kicks ass.
This has been covered by a shitload of bands but this version completely takes the song out of whiny emo mode and kicks it straight to ass-kicking electronic hard rock mode.
I liked it. A bit depressing but, then again, so is the original Speaking of NIN:
It's not better or worse than Led Zeppelin, but it's dark and eerie in a really awesome way.
There's probably other ones I like better but this is what I can think of right now.

I like Nightwish cover of Gary Moores Over the Hills and Far Away
and also even if I don't listen to FiveFingerDeathPunch otherwise I like their cover of BadCompanys song Bad Company
And yes, these are covers I like better than the originals.

Call me crazy, but Judas Priest's covers are consistently awesome. Honestly, I would say that some of their best songs are their covers.

EDIT: And while most of Metallica's covers are not nearly as good as the original, some are far better.

And Anthrax's cover of Got the Time is pure awesomesauce as well:

Malukah's cover of "Dragonborn Comes" gave me such a nerdgasm, it's musically brilliant and she is incredibly attractive to boot.

Well, I have two that immediately come to mind:

I didn't even know this was a cover until recently, and after hearing the original, Disturbed style definitely suits the song a little better. Helps the music video is animated. And that apparently I'm a fan of Disturbed, since I have more songs from them in my music folder than any other artist. At least, at the moment.

This one is mainly because I'm one of the few people who can't stand Micheal Jackson as a singer. Part of me can't help but be a little creeped out by his voice. And yes, while there's plenty of references to him, especially in the video itself, I definitely prefer this version. The voice actually sounds more adult, no offense to Micheal Jackson fans.

It's considered good form to spoiler videos, no matter how few you wish to post. Particularly in threads where every post contains a video.

That shit adds up to bring people's internet speeds to a crawl.
I don't know how to spoiler...
Put whatever content you want in your spoiler box here.
Just copy and paste the above text into the reply box, then a spoiler box will appear.
You can also use this type of bracket instead of the square ones [ ]

If you want your spoiler box to have a title, you can write
Content here
(Note that if you quote this message, you will see some extra code. Don't copy this code, I'm using it to keep the spoiler boxes from appearing when I explain the spoiler codes.

I think this is a pretty good cover.

Another good cover.
