I wonder why noone has mentioned Looking Glass Studios. I mean, come on, System Shock 1 & 2 and Thief 1 & 2. What's more to mourn the loss of?

Clover... Okami is awesome, why did they have to go away...

Also, The Learning Company. They made all the old Treasure Mountain, Treasure Cove, Gizmos and Gadgets games. *Sigh* Those were the days.

Also, I think they're still around, but Dice. They made Rallisport Challenge 2 and I haven't heard of them since.

Oh, and Fasa was such a great developer; Crimson Skies holds a dear place in my heart.

Rare was one of my top choices when it made Killer Instinct, Now I'm afraid to buy any of their games.

Sega was the Greatest Developer for hardcore gamers from the year 1999-2004. Dreamcast had so many unbelievably awsome games. Then when XBOX debuted, Sega began to really harness their companies potential. They made games that were SO far ahead of the market. Trailblazers. Sadly, the EA stradegy proved out.

Stompy, Bioware was all but dead before EA. The progression isn't EA > Fail, it's Fail > EA.

Rare sweet beautiful Rare, What happened to you my favorite developer? You havn't released anything in so long. wheres my witty Banjo dialog or head flicking Perfect Dark headshotness? I weep for you Rare your comeback had better be fucking awesome.
Rareware was awesome. Then David Doak buggered off with a bunch of people, and formed Free Radical. There will be no comeback, because Rareware is dead, and the trained monkeys that call themselves Rare don't know the first thing about making a good game. Nintendo knew what they were doing when they sold them to Microsoft.

Yeah, Bullfrog and Westwood... I can´t even think about them without tears welling up...
Also I miss the times when EA was still a good publisher (anyone remember their old logo? Square, circle, triangle, none of that EA sports crap)

Oh God, Bullfrog. Many happy hours were spent playing the Dungeon Keeper games (Especially level 4 of the original. Gem Seam = Happy Blayze). They were simple to understand and fun. What more could you want?
