I was working on posting those youtube videos for about half an hour but then i clicked on page two and simultaneously overwrote my Ctrl Copied post somehow.

I love how I came across this thread midway through runs of Chrono Trigger, TWEWY and Ocarina of Time 3d. Those three also happen to tie in my head for best soundtrack.

If I had to pick a song? Zelda overworld (OOT), Frog/Luccas theme (chrono trigger) or Transformation (TWEWY)

Does it have to be said really?
The World Ends With You
Ocarina of time
Phoenix Wright
Sonic '06
Okami
Assassin's Creed 2 (specifically "Back to Venice")
Fable
Kingdom Hearts

That's a short list to me, there are so many more games with awesome soundtracks!

OOOOooooohhh Where do I begin?

Metroid Prime series
Shadow of the Colossus (all time favorite, beautiful both in game and out of game)
FFVIII
Silent Hill 2
Oblivion/Morrowind
The one song from NMH
Brawl
Dark Cloud 2
Halo 1 music until it got overplayed by pretty much everyone -_-

And that's all I can think of off of the top of my head. I'll get into some songs based on Nostalgia but that's pretty much it.

Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie hands down. Donkey Kong 64 also gets an honorable mention. Rare does an amazing job with their soundtracks, especially on the three aforementioned N64 titles. Maybe it's their upbeat use of fun instruments. It really adds to the nature of the game.

Man...just simply incredible.

My personal favorite? Probably the soundtrack to either FFVIII or FFIX.
The best? Probably the soundtrack to FFVII.

But I'm pretty sure, according to the trailer, that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is going to blow all three of those out of the water.

The Battlefield theme is always great, but my choice for the thread is going to be Doom 3's title theme:

I always loved some of the music from the Tales series. Some of it is pretty samey, but there's some pretty awesome music.
Motoi Sakaruba is the AC/DC of video game music composers. The only way to tell one from the other is sound quality, really. That said, damn near all of his stuff is amazing. Battle theme from Star Ocean: The Second Story anyone?

Haven't seen Lost Odyssey get mentioned, so I'll do it:

This is the theme you get to hear when choosing locations. Hell, it has even a rock/metal part in the middle, somewhere around 1 minute 40 seconds. Simply incredible.

So much feeling crammed into one song. Whenever this song came on, I could just lay back, relax and listen to this loop for hours.

These get used quite often in those brilliant dream sequences, which is why those sequences are just incredible.

Now...for some boss battle songs:
Warning, There's Metal inside.

Lyrics: AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AAAAAAH, AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AAAAAH, AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AAAAAAAAAAAH, AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The Splinter Cell has always had great tunes. The atmosphere is just perfect for each level. Thumping bass when an enemy is suspicious of your presence, intense guitar riffs when you're spotted, and quiet but sinister strings when you're sneaking around undetected. But by far, the most incredible is the main menu theme from Double Agent. It's just... mind blowingly amazing.
