your favourite/ least favourite game publisher

In the vein of excellent shooters I concede Free Radical as well, big soft spot for them with regards to the Timesplitter series, took a leaf out of Rare's innovative shooter book (Notice how the health systems from TS and Goldeneye are rather similar?)

Free Radical was formed after most of Rare's staff jumped ship not long after the Microsoft buyout.
Read the credits for Perfect Dark and timesplitters 2, about 1/2 the names are the same.

Favourite: Valve, they've pushed the industry forward in ways Microsoft and co said were impossible yet now try to copy. Not to mention the best customer support in gaming. Also the fact that they started out as a bunch of bedroom Quake modders (there's hope for us all yet).


Most hated: EA, same game, different sticker. Although they earn points back for taking on Free Radical after Eidos dropped them.

I have to say, number one on my publisher hate list is Titus Software (http://games.ign.com/objects/025/025073.html ). If you haven't heard of them, you've never played one of their games, and you can pat yourself on the back for your foresight. These are the guys who released that god-awful Superman 64 and three separate (terrible) Blues Brothers games, as well as the more recent garbage heap RoboCop.

Edit: Wikipedia says they're dead. Good riddance.

and i asked myself who on earth would buy a superman 64 or a blues brothers game... well there you are!

Oh, come on:

1) Hardly, hardly the biggest bad thing done by a VG publisher.
2) Although problematic, the "censoring" could be, and most likely is, to eliminate spoilers. Do some research on MGS2 and see how Kojima screwed with us there.
3) For god sake, you don't even know either MGS or Konami or even bother to look it up on Wikipedia, and still claim that much dislike for it..? Gimme a break.

Konami, because of MGS, Silent Hill, Zone of The Enders and Suikoden.

My least favorite...

Whoever it is that keeps making 50Cent games.

most hated? E.A hands down , ive enjoyed odd-world strangers wrath ,but aside from that every e.a game ive played has been overhyped like a turd thats been leafed in gold.

Please tell me why Bungie is your favourite game publisher... BTW Bungie does not PUBLISH they make there own games.

1. People are putting Valve (they publish? Ea did the ps3 port of orange box) and infinity ward

1. So? Hitler is bad and he killed less than Stalin.
2. Its over cutscene length number of them and install time/space not spoilers. (for MGS4)

That would be Vivendi.

Favourite: Vivendi(blizzard games only), Capcom, Square-enix (every other game that doesn't have final fantasy or kingdom hearts in it's title)

Least Favourite: Other than EA. Square-enix for milking the ff franchise way too much and the soon kingdom hearts, and Tecmo, all they have good was DoA and Ninja Gaiden and the creator's leaving now.

Take-Two is the king. Bioshock, Grand Thedt Auto, and I think they did Oblivion too (published anyway; Bethesda developed it). THQ is equally awesome, they publish the games Relic makes (as in, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, etc). They also had some good older stuff, like Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. Think of it like Burnout at a car rally, though the crashes aren't as impressive it makes up for it with sheer number of modes to play. Including Red Rover in cars. I also like Activision, because they own Infinity Ward.

As for most hated, I don't really have one. EA does get on my nerves, but I love the Burnout series and on occasion EA has been known to do something original, usually with good reults. I don't see how they "ruined" Command & Conquer, I played Generals: Zero Hour and thought it was great (although I have played Yuri's Revenge).

This is probably a real stupid question, but isn't this everyone's favourite developers, not publishers? Such as, Bungie were the Developers of Halo, but weren't Microsoft the publishers?

As for mine, old Sega (if it counts) before Sammy takeover. The new one is testing my patience.

I'm so close to saying lucasarts as my least favorite, but they're past the 'pump out as many star was titles as possible' phase, and they get points for their old classics like monkey island. I guess its in a grey zone for me
