Completing Fable, waiting through the credits, then told I could do free-play.

Seriously. I wasn't expecting it, and it made me fill my boxers with glee.

Greatest is hard to pin down, but I can certainly name a few of my all time favorites.

- Singleplayer CoD4 -

During the sniper mission when Captain Macmillan tells you to stay close and follow his every move. I had this crazy feeling of electricity and a perma-grin the whole sequence.

- Half-Life 2 -

When the music drops and Dog leaves you behind the door to Ravenholm. I felt crazy mishmash nervous and excited.

- Jedi Knight 2 -

You attack a ship hanger full of Stormtroopers late in the game. By this point, all force powers are maxed and you have full use of your lightsaber styles. It was like being a 400 pound gorilla in a room full of kittens.

As sad as this sounds, one of the ones that springs to mind was Ryo's hand when dialling a phone number in Shenmue. It was just so detailed. Just like the rest of the game. Personally I think that game marked the arrival of the "next-gen" (technically last gen I suppose) of consoles.

Never really thought about it much, but a few honourable mentions:

Might & Magic VI - Reaching the point where I could fly around and rain firey meteoric death on even the hardest of monsters

FF VII & VIII - No particular single moment, just loads of brilliant plot points

GTA-SA - Beating the mountain bike challenge, and earning that 100%

Possibly... Half-Life Episode 2 in general. Spectacular ending.

That, or FINALLY beating Paper Mario. Never beat it on the N64. Too frustrating. FINALLY beat it on the virtual console.

My all time favorite momment is when I entered the captial city while playing Oblivion and the Guards were randomly killing all the civillians and each other.... Funniest random thing ever.
