Grrr... Aliens or Saving Private Ryan?

Saving Private Ryan wins.

Followed by Starship Troopers and Aliens.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

This film contains the best score I've ever heard, my favourite film scene of all time (The lovable tuco running through the graveyard where the gold is hidden to the sound of Ennio Morricone's Ecstasy of gold) and the second scene in a film to ever make me cry.

But honestly, it is a masterpiece of western, drama, adventure and good characterization.

Mine is probably Doomsday. I really enjoyed that movie, and I try to get everyone I can to see it.
Yeah that one was pretty fuckin sick. Loved the music in it too :p Especially Adam and the Ants (when they're just about to eat that dude)

Oh gee let me think...

[HEADING=1]ALIENS![/HEADING]

Why? It's hard to find any bit of modern science fiction that hasn't been influenced by it.

Donnie Darko for it's amazing one of a kind story and characters.
Damn Straight!

Donnie Darko

It makes you think and you dont understand everything the first watch of the movie!

"Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?" - Donnie Darko
-whispers- "Why do you wear that stupid man suit?" - Frank

I love Frank!
Finally someone who knows the film!
you have to admit it was one of the most underrated films. Also If you guys havent seen it GO GO now! See it. I still havent found my old VHS copy of it. But i have a digital copy on my computer. Also with one of the newer releases they got rid of the 'Mad World' by Gary Jules theme song in the beginning.....*sigh* sad.

But yeah that film is my favorite.
2nd being Pandorium (newer movie and a fucking awesome one at that!)
3rd being Tomestone (i hate westerns but this movie I love, even if it is a western)

Used to be American Beauty...but I watched The Last Samurai in full and I think it is now my favorite. Is it a better move than American Beauty? No. Kevin Spacey > Tom Cruise, but my love of japanese stuff and the kickass battles just made me go crazy.

Depends what genre really:

Sci-fi: star trek (the recent one, though Iron man 2 is a VERY close second) as it is a kick ass film that's been brilliantly cast and has brought new life into the franchise (Hint hint George Lucas)

Fantasy: LOTR The two towers (It's the best of the three and is just a grat tour de force by the cast and is caried off beautifully as a story)

Comedy: Tropic thunder (It sis just so over the top funny you can't not laugh really)

Drama: Sherlock holmes (Debatable as a drama but though it doesn't really seem to know what genre it wants to be this seems as good as any, good acting by the cast, a good story and very funny as well)

Action: The Rock (it is by a country mile the best michael bay film and is the best nicholas cage film/ sean connery film by a mile. Note- I have not seen kick ass so I cant say about NC's performence in that)

Historical: Sarpe's Waterloo (an obscure movie but is amazing considering the budget and was probably the best of the series.

Horror: Predator (only horror film ive watched really but is suspencefull and done well the upcoming one looks even better than the first)

Pulp Fiction.

Great script, great characters, great casting, great soundtrack, and Uma Thurman. What's not to like?

Just one? Arhg, a close tie between Billy Elliot and Hot Fuzz.

But I think I'll go with Billy Elliot. It was a brilliant movie and I thought it was something I could never get into watching. Though my dad won me over and we watched it together and I must say - I never expected that much emotion from a movie like that. It just blew me away, completely cleared my expectations for a movie. Beats every single multimillion dollar, Hollywood movie out there. In my own humble opinion, of course.

Oh please tell me someone else in this thread has seen it.
