My favorite movie is by far Inception. I saw it 4 times in about 4 months, and it was only slightly less than incredible the second time.

In order

1: Fight Club
2: Pulp Fiction

My favorite movies are the kind that try to warp my perception of the world.

Weird choices Escapist readers. Alien(s), JP, ID4, AND Transformers!? Empire Strikes Back AND Collateral!? Good movies + I Heart Huckabees!? Watchmen? Is that a joke?!

Well anyway. My top three (recentish) in no particular order are:

Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan

The Wrestler

Inception

No, it wasn't a joke. I really liked I Heart Huckabees, (as you'd see if you read my review of it). It was a great movie, in my opinion. But I guess that's it, just differing opinions.

I'm curious though...why did you dislike it?

Hey. I just finished reading your review (and a few others) and I quite enjoyed your perspective. My problem with IHH is that it takes very serious philosophical ideas and boils them down to themes you can understand within a 2 hour movie. Initially this sounds great. People that never really thought about the world and philosophy and being will actually start to think about their preconceptions. I guess that's good. It's just following any of the philosophies proposed in the movie would be a massive mistake - on the level of suicide bombers believing that Allah will reward them with virgins in heaven after they die. It's just that true philosophy shouldn't ever be mixed up with a fun idea espoused in a 2 hour movie. Years of self-reflections should affirm that.

To put it in personal terms - I have a pretty good idea about what I believe about the world and other people. Watching a movie like IHH didn't make me question anything, and the only thinking I did was a cursory chuckle to myself about how weak their presentations of different philosophies were.

Also the movie itself sucked. Not funny, not especially well written, not well directed or well shot or anything. The actors carried it. Without their fun personalities this would hardly be a blip.

The fact that someone on earth actually thinks that those movies will be the ultimate trilogy makes me want to cry...
