Linkin Park showed their talents with this rap/Arabic mix on their latest album. Worth listening to even if you're not a fan of their older work.<youtube=dltPKw9vSto>
Ah, I love that album. So many different genres.

Orchestral/Metal, It's just epic sounding, Blind Guardian's got some good stuff for that.

There's always good ol' Apocalyptica, I love these guys. They're four guys playing the cello and watching them play songs live is insane.

And then there's David Garrett, he's pretty much known for making mashups of genres with his orchestra, and he's a beast on the violin.

I'm a fan of orchestral heavy metal, personally.

Then we have techno... J-pop... trance heavy metal? I dunno, they're pretty awesome though.

Industrial metal is great but it has been around for so long I don't think it qualifies. The same goes for Orchestral Metal. Okay more on topic koRn recently tried to fuse metal with dubstep which was interesting. They also had some good hip-hop collaborations way back when.
I can't really think of any other great genre combos right now.

Okay we all like music and we all have our favourite genres and sub-genres and sub-sub-genres etc etc etc.

What is your favourite (if any) genre mashup?

I have a holy trinity of awesomeness when it comes to music.

Rock/metal

Orchestral

Electronic

All of these genres sound awesome together.

These are just a few of my personal favourites.

I like all of these genres separately, but if someone can get them together, and get them together really well, it just hits all the right buttons in my head when it comes to music.

So, what are your favourite mashups?
Holy... did you read my mind when you posted this, because these mash-ups are my all time favorite as well. And Ghost in the Shell... my god what an underrated show with awesome music (especially Inner Universe). You good sir get a cookie for bringing this show up.

One of my personal favorite songs that mashes up the best of Rock and Symphonic Orchestra seamlessly would be the Halo theme, and I don't even play the games.

What can I say :D

I aim to please.

Also, I agree with the Halo thing.

They're not my favourite games by a long shot, but they do have awesome music.

I guess thrash metal, which is a mix of heavy metal and punk.
Also got a deep love for Swedish trallpunk. It's like regular punk, but with happier melodies and depressing lyrics. Has competent performers, as opposed to most punk bands.

Metal/Punk
Punk/Melodic(perhaps folk music is more fitting)

Fuckin' love Girl Talk.

Along that kinda vibe Team Teamwork do mashups of hip-hop and retro videogame music.
They have 3 albums; Vinyl Fantasy VII, Ocarina of Rhyme, and the sadly pun-less title Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis.

Here's one of my favourites.

Also, I'll just leave this right here...

I was going to say the same thing just with these examples instead...

Yeah, I'd actually thought about putting Sacred Worlds up, but decided to stick with And Then There Was Silence, due to it being newly re-recorded.
