Off the top of my head I'd say Dragons and Griffions. All the others are reallyneat and all but I just find something special about these two.

I love dragons, but I also love the classic, Bela Lugosi-type vampires (insert I liked them before they were cool cliche here) and werewolves.
[small]That is the more wolf than man digitigrade werewolves, not giant ass wolves like in freaking Twilight now everyone thinks they're cute. I hate cute werewolves.[/small]

I also love gryphons and centaurs. Fucking sweet. And gargoyles. And pegasi. Also Cerberus.

Hell, I just love mythology.

*EDIT* If we're going the way of Norse mythology, then Nidhogg. The dragon type with antlers, not the serpent. Though the serpent is also cool.

Feel free to include any crazy cryptozoology monsters like Nessie and Bigfoot if you like.

My favourite creature would have to be The Phoenix. I love the idea of something that can bounce back from the ashes no matter how many times it gets burned.

It doesn't. Well, it does in pop culture, but not in mythology. The original would combine a funeral pyre for itself with a nest for its egg. It doesn't get reborn, another one replaces it.
Ok yeah but you know what I mean right? I actually knew that but just got lazy and generalised it. Cheers bud :)

Nice Thread, I haven't came across something like this yet so I am glad I can express what creature I would like to present. Mine would actually be the Chimera. Honestly my favorite is a Dragon, but it's so overused that it losses it's value as a choice.

<spoiler=Chimera>

To be honest, I have no idea what the creature is based off only that I know it's tail is a snake, that it resembles a lion with horns, front hands like a eagle, back legs like a goat, and has an extra head on it's chest. I felt it was really cool and something many wouldn't think of (I actually googled and came across this so that's how I found this awesome beast) and decided to say I pick this as my favorite.
It was a mythical beast in the legend of Bellephoron. He kiled it by lodging a spear with a lead blade in its throat. the chimera's fiery breath then smelted the lead, which chewed its way through the mighty beasts intestines.
And it only has one head in the original. except from the tail.

My favorite is Lamia. A tragic tail of a woman who loved a god and had her children taken away and then was turned into a monster.

On another favorite is the leucrotta, such a creepy looking thing.

Hippogriffs.
"The hippogriff, in legends is said to be far faster, stronger and more intelligent than their fathers, the griffin,"
-Wikipedia

Or perhaps I should be more nationalistic and say Fenrisulven or Midgardsormen like some other people on here.

One of the only creatures here with consistently good connotations, the Phoenix is just cool. And pretty much invincible.

And Selkies too.
Just to add something more to my post: I like dragons too, but they're so over done.
