I haven't played any since silver, but I'd say the top three of the ones I know would be:
Charizard (of course)
Lugia(giant badass bird thing that charges its lazer)
And to echo many others, Scyther.

OT: Favorite is Vaporeon. Its always be a strong member of my team and the back bone. It could beat just about anything until Elective came alone.
