Hi all.

I'm currently stranded away from my beloved 360 with only my laptop for company. It can't run anything major and I don't have access to any games shops anyway. I've been downloading SNES roms for zsnes and that has been keeping me amused. But I was wondering if there were any hidden gems you guys could think of that I should check out. I was born in 87 and only really caught the tail end of the SNES generation.

I did a search and couldn't find any similar topics. Sorry if I missed any.

Super Mario Allstars,
Super Mario World,
F Zero,
LoZ: A Link to the Past,
Street Fighter II Turbo.
Not exactly 'hidden' gems, but good all the same.
And I do not condone piracy.

Oooh, the SNES is probably the best console ever. I still play it. Anyway, some of my favorite SNES games are: Donkey Kong Country, LoZ: A link to the past, Wild Guns is good if you like shooters, Super Metroid, Mario games, and maybe NBA Jam.

Super Punch-Out.
Kirby Superstar.

I think we've about covered everything.

I agree with both Contra 3 and Mega Man X. Also Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is one of my personal favorite. You also can't go wrong with F-Zero and Super Metroid. Mario Kart is also good if you want a racing game other then F-Zero. That covers my list of favorites so thats it.

I think the SNES games have been covered now. Though still get Chrono Trigger and you won't need anything else for ages.

Or just wait for the DS version that's coming out soon (presuming a DS is at hand).

Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, FF6, and Mega Man X. You will never need to play anything else ever again.

I've played Chrono Trigger and FF6 a couple of times each and I absolutely love them, but probably won't play them again for a while. I was look for more unsung heroes. I think I'll be alright for a while with the suggestions above, though. Thanks a lot for your help everyone. :)

My favorites are as follows:

Link to the Past
Super Mario World
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Secret of Mana
Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, 3

Oh, and piracy is a surefire way for you to end up in hell for all eternity.

As for "hidden gems"...
Well, try Actraiser and Soul Blazer.
Actraiser is a mix of old fashion sidescroller with swords (Magic Sword) and Sim City.

Soul Blazer is a bit of Zelda but less emphasis on puzzles and more on overhead view sword fighting/action/spells. And not to forget a really great 16 bit soundtrack too.

They're true hidden gems, they didn't get much love back in the day and they're not generally remembered now. They're from Enix, back before they merged with Squaresoft to become Square/Enix.

Finally, if you're playing on an emulator, try to find Seiken Densetsu 3, it's a MUCH improved sequel to Secret of Mana, it's been fan translated for a long time now online as a ROM, and it's a real shame it never made it outside of Japan.

If you want a good hard side scrolling shooter, try Earthworm Jim or Cybernator.
