To totally cop out of having to make a decision between them, I'm going to go ahead and list my favorite Autobot and Decepticon.

I am quite surprised that hardly anyone has said Optimus is their favorite Transformer. He's certainly my favorite "Auto-brat".
My favorite "Decepti-chop" would have to be Soundwave. To paraphrase the cartoon movie: "Soundwave superior, everyone else inferior!"

Honorable mention: Grimlock, of course. And Unicron, because Orsen Welles' voice made that character.

I loved Soundwave. Especially his various tape transformers and his kick-ass voice.

Grimlock is a favourite as well as he combined my three favourite things, robots, aliens and dinosaurs.

In Beastwars my favourite was ... I can't remember his name, he turned into a tiger. He was one of the protoforms that landed later on in the series.

OT: My favorite has to be Vector Prime: His Special Power is to control Time. If he uses it too much however he returns to the plane outside of our existence and is just a watcher of time. He is also the oldest Transformer known to exist besides Primus. I mean he runs on fucking gears and cogs.
