They're untrustworthy. They would of preferred to go with the DRM if it wasn't for the anger and loss of sales. They still want to push the Kinect and it's target advertising on everyone so to me they still haven't learnt a damn thing. Makes me kinda wished they still kept the DRM.

I hope not.

Microsoft Game Studios has many talented studios working for it, for the division to crumble would not only result in the mass-loss of jobs far beyond what we saw with THQ, but it would give Sony no competition which would give them full power.
Do you really think Sony would be so nice to consumers if they had no competition?

Also Microsoft has been the one known for taking greater risk.
They funded games like Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Gear of War and Alan Wake. On top of that Microsoft DOESN'T own any of those IPs.
If Epic wanted too, they could take Gears of War to a sony system.
Microsoft has done much more for gaming than people give them credit for.

They pushed the internet on consoles, HD games and for a few years Microsoft was the go to place for indie development and arguably the indie movement we have now started on the Xbox Live Arcade.

Microsoft also helped develop the MMO genre with their funding and publishing of Asheron's Call and they had a unified PC gaming network (Zone) before Steam was a thing.

Microsoft also indirectly caused the birth of Valve, not to mention the majority of gaming is done on Microsoft Windows.

They also hold IPs which changed gaming more than most Sony franchises.
Halo, Age of Empires, Flight Simulator have done for gaming than most.

Microsoft Game Studios has done much for gaming and can continue to do much more.
To want them to be destroyed would only set back gaming.
Few things, yep Microsoft doesn't buy IP the way Sony does, possibly good for competition but not as much AS THE USED MARKET is. Microsoft just pays for time, Sony in the same sorts of deals pays for extra content (guess which I would actually chose?). Saying that the windows monopoly is a good thing is a bit rich, who knows what linux could have come up with if microcrap didn't exist

As for MMOs Ever herd of a game called Ultima Online? MMOs didnt EXIST before that game (yes, its EA and I hate those Evil Assholes but what are you going to do? *shrug*)

Good luck proving your "greater risk". There are a fair few new IPs on the PS3 as well not to mention PC Infamous comes to mind.

Pushing internet onto consoles isn't actually something to be proud of, they might have a browser but its behind a pay wall. If you mean they made internet play a big thing then again, nice try, without the Xbox it still would have been introduced because its where gaming was heading (you do realize that its not ONLY Sony vs Microcrap don't you? there is PC and Nintendo as well)

Halo maybe the Microcrap fanboys wet dream but in the scheme of things its not that important, its another brown military shooter, set IN SPACE (oh wait does that sound like doom crossed with call of duty? not really innovative)

Any company which forgets it exists to serve customers SHOULD go bankrupt as a lesson to the rest of them

I?m sure you all know about the mistakes Xbox has made over their release, and of course the gamers have strong opinions about this and probably so do you. But we will get to that part of this article later. If you haven?t heard let me tell you.

It all started when the Xbox one was revealed it had a lot of D.R.M.s or Digital Right Managements such as you have to connect to the internet every 24 hours, the game can only be traded to a friend once meaning he cannot sell it to a local game retailer and lots of other D.R.M.s was included. Of course that caused a lot of hate for Xbox.

The gamers were very angry with these D.R.M.s and fought back. Xbox one was also hated on by their rival Play-station. ?how did Play-station hate on Xbox one?? You ask Play-station released a video on the internet explaining how to trade your video games on the Play-station 4 showing that all you had to do was hand your game to your friend. So in response Xbox reversed their D.R.M.s.

So here comes the question what do you think about Xbox making all these D.R.M.s and then reversing them for a lot of reasons leave your answer in the comment section.

I hope Microsofts gaming devision crumbles . Because i'm afraid what microsoft would do if it had even MORE power . They are anti-consumer at it's best . That being said , i would have had more respect for them if they stuck to their guns ,as it stands now , no one has any idea what this machine would do and is capable of .

I'm definately not touching it with a 10 foot pole someone else is holding .
I'm a little worried. Part of me hopes they fail, and disappear. The more rational side of me argues that is Playstation lost it's primary competition, it would not hesitate to utilize these strategies. The only reason it refused to do so was because of healthy market competition. The Sony fanboy in me hopes they wouldn't, but who can tell? A monopoly in the industry would hurt consumers, methinks. Either way, I'll never touch an Xbox now. They were okay before, I just didn't like their exclusives, but now I'm done with them forever.

Nintendo needs to get their act together then MS needs to die, then someone needs to fill MSes place.

Microsoft had a terrible set of ideas with a few potentially neat ones, that they backed with awful awful marketing. They then backed down on some of the most blatantly awful ones, in the whiniest "guess you aren't as cool and with it as we are" bullshit they could muster, while keeping another awful idea, the mandatory, never blinking Kinect.

The Xbox 1 will not be a total flop. MS's reversal on the 24-hour, self-bricking idea plus it's preexisting, non-news following base will ensure respectable sales. It will trail behind PS4 and, given the way the marketing department's been selling this thing, it will lose badly. There is no way, at this point, that Microsoft can fully recover, even if they dropped the Kinect; they've just screwed up, and compounded the screw-ups with more screw-ups, and been whiny little kids about it, never accepting responsibility for any of the bad press they got themselves, to ever be able to fully recover before the PS4's install base becomes to big for that to be mathematically possible.

That's not hate. And I would honestly hope any gamer could properly brand "Playstation." It is a brand name.

Anyway, to the point:

Sorry I disagree, they aren't handling any of this properly, they are acting like at best a used car sales person throwing in "extras" to get a sale and at worst spoilt children. They are acting like they are in the right and we are being overly demanding. That's not how you deal with a mistake, you don't come out and say if you don't like it "just deal with it", you don't ***** and moan and fight every step of the way
Yeah, this is what bugs me. Even as they were planning the change, they came off as "why are you too stupid to get how awesome this is?"

We got crap for being "backwards" and the like, for not seeing the benefits of losing our rights as consumers in order to fuel their paranoid fantasy. At best we were talked down to and at worse we were treated with scorn.

In short: screw 'em.

Though I'm pleased with Microsoft's backpedaling, they've made the unfortunate mistake of allowing us to see their true colours. And it wasn't pretty.

The truth is plain and simple: every company wants market dominance. Sony, Nintendo, Valve - they all want to be the biggest, controlling the market with hundreds of millions of loyal fans giving them money.
Sony gave us a look at that truth with the Playstation 3 reveal. After dominating the industry for two straight console generations, they believed they were above their customers, and that their customers bought into the mindless company branding that Sony wheeled out for nearly ten years - they'd buy anything with "Playstation" on the box.
As we see today, the knock off effects of that mindset have nearly bankrupted Sony.

Microsoft, however, has made infinitely more damaging mistakes, and it's already cost them the generation. The best they can hope for now is to claw back enough of a market-share to stop their Xbox division from going under. The biggest and most obvious mistake is also the simplest: Microsoft have no reason for their arrogance. They're the lowest selling console of the previous generation globally. They succeeded only because of Sony's aforementioned mistakes. Every major release the company has made over the last five years has outright failed. Strong OEM contracts and their Office suite keeps them afloat. Azure has also shown to be a profitable business. Their Xbox division, however, has yet to make a profit.

Essentially, they made a console without even considering their customers. At all. Literally, nothing about the Xbone was designed for the people who would actually buy the machine. It was made for advertisers and publishers, and the customers were just "assumed" to be there. It's now a matter of principle for me to avoid all Xbox branding.

I am going to get what I hope to be a decent PC soon, so I shouldn't need any of the next generation of consoles. The flubs of the xbox have made me REALLY glad I am skipping it.

It also seems like the PC market is just a healthier market, with more variety in games and pricing.

At first I looked at Microsoft's mistakes in disbelief. I was actually banking on the idea that I'd buy their console this generation, as the wii was kind of a let-down and I expected Sony to sport the more expensive console again. I backpaddled from that idea much faster then Microsoft did on theirs.

After the initial shock it's been like a spectacular trainwreck, fueled by their greed, apathy for the consumer and plain stupidity. They make, what I can only consider to be, rookie mistakes, with their 'Deal with it' attitude, or Matrick's nuclear sub. First lesson of being a spokesperson; you represent an entire company; don't make it look bad. Then again, look what they had to work with.

Even the priorities of the Xbone are wrong. Logic dictates; consumers first, then publishers, then, if you really need to, advertising. Not, as Microsoft assumes, the other way around.

I would not trust buying an Xbone; I fully expect them to reverse their DRM policies or screw the consumer in another way the first chance they get.

Yeah, when I heard their plans... Well, I got a friend who has been an Xbox player for ten years. Last I heard he was getting the PS4. I should really ask if there are any games he plans to buy in particular for the sake of playing together.

Really, I think think that sums it all up.

Yes, without Microsoft, Sony would certainly [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_64] have [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameCube] no [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii] competition [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U].

If Microsoft goes under in the games industry, that doesn't spell death for their first-party developers. It just means they'll move elsewhere or become independent.

OT: I think Microsoft has proven themselves to be consumer-unfriendly and almost entirely untrustworthy.

I'm with Krazykidd. I want them gone.
