Your Filter. How dirty is it?

So we all have a filter that keeps us from saying rude/offensive/inappropriate things to the people we encounter. Multiple little lies of omission are the grease that keeps society running smoothly.

How often is yours used? It's about to get real in here.

I'm a mean person. I can't help but think mean thoughts about people that tick me off. It's cathartic. However, I also value politeness and social etiquette. So a fair amount of my insults aren't said to anyone aloud. Instead I just keep them to myself and smile/nod blankly. Sometimes if it's really bad I'll tell someone later who I know will agree with me, and we'll have a good time at the other person's unwitting expense.

Wait, there is a filter for the internet? Bloody hell, that could have come in handy a few. The internet is a dark, sick place.

I'm pretty polite normally, unless someone catches me in a bad mood and/or I'm drunk. Even then I can normally restrain myself and resign to giving people the ol' stink eye.

When I don't like someone it's fairly obvious because I tend to steer clear of them or at least keep my interaction with them to a minimum but I'll very rarely be outright mean to someone.

If someone starts a verbal confrontation with me I can be kind of nasty though. Not always, most of the time I avoid fights but if someone says the wrong kind of thing when I'm in the wrong mood, all filters are deactivated.

If I didn't rethink what I intended to type at least twice I'd have already been permanently IP banned from every login site that I frequent.

We do not all have a filter. I put no value on being polite nor social etiquette as far as peach goes, you being offended by what i say make me want to offend you more. I find people that are offended by swears to be prudes and I frankly detest them more than the most foul mouthed person on the planet. If someone says "Language" in an place that is assumed i would not use it like say a per-school mt automatic reaction is fuck you you fucking piece of shit i will say what ever the fuck I want and i do not give a damn if it offends your dumb ass.

That stated being physical inconsiderate pisses me off, do not stand in a parking spot, if some one can not open a door because they need to push a kart through it help them do not just sit there.

I try to keep no-no words at a minimum, mainly using euphemisms. But I am not going to hold back on using fucking as an adjective.

Cannot agree more strongly. I know quite a few people who claim that "I wear my heart on mysleeve" and that "I always tell folks what I'm thinking." But every time I hear that, I also know they are lying through their teeth. Fact of the matter is, most people lie just to get through their day. If someone passes you on the street and asks, "How's it going?", you don't actually sit there and detail your day to them. It'd be silly and a waste of both of y'alls time.

I'm rather pessimistic, and I have plenty of venomous thoughts throughout the day for various people. Some of them I know, most I don't. But, none of them know these thoughts because I (like most people) have the sense of etiquette to know that those types of thoughts aren't good to make public. I'm aware that these kinds of thoughts usually cause more trouble than they solve. So needless to say, my filter is rather strong.

That's called gossip, and that can come back to bite you in the ass. You'd be surprised how confrontational people get when they find out people have been whispering behind their backs, and the only box that can hold a secret is a coffin. I've lost friends to that persnickety business, so I don't suggest it to anybody.

It depends, if I'm out with friends or alone I have no filter. The only times I ever really filter is if kids are nearby, and I mean like right next to me.

I do swear a lot.

Depending on the situation I have been known to be quite "rude" to people.

And even though i'm generally a happy bugger I do suffer from bad road rage. I hate being cut up on the motorway, I hate pillocks that don't indicate and I really hate muppets that drive right up my arse.

I filter almost everything I say, even aloud, simply because I'm quick to jump on people who use the wrong words, and thus try to ensure that what I say is expressed as precisely as possible. This goes out the window when I'm not paying attention to a conversation, or when I am really pissed off (where I usually go for the tactic of emotionally wounding my opponent).

I swear all the time. I can't help it, I'm from New Jersey.

This thread is more about unspoken backtalk, sass, and other forms of snarkery.

When I'm my friends, I mostly don't hold back. When I'm around my parents or little kids, I restrain myself. I swear quite a bit.

I'm calm and relaxed most of the time I never get mad. Then again nobody is horrible to me it must be because I'm so likeable. I don't know why that is. But I do like to swear, in fact I swear a lot. Swearing adds so much more meaning, why say "that was awesome" when you can say "that was fucking awesome"

If I checked it there would be enough stuff in it to make a small army so I'd rather not find a specific answer for you. Its a lot though.

would you believe i'm genuinely peaceful and have no need to filter any offensive thoughts from my interactions as i don't have any to filter?

My filter's not used all that often.
I don't usually censor my thoughts, nor do I typically have many thoughts that are worth censoring.

I get pissed off, but hardly ever truly enraged. The only thing I may have to switch my filter on for is the fact that I swear a whole hell of a lot in casual conversation.
