Got Duke Nukem 3d for my birthday. I was bragging to all my friends how I got an 18+ game.

As being American 18+ is generally reserved for the Adults Only games. So, as I first passed this I thought it was something completly perverted.

On topic, my first Mature game would be Resident Evil2 for the N64.

The demo of Thief II; it came on a preview CD with my copy of the PC version of Final Fantasy VII. (Remember when preview CDs came with games every now and then? That was awesome.) I remember feeling very conflicted after a knocked a guy out by hitting him in the back of the head with a sap and then tossing his body into the fire.

Surprisingly, Resistance: Fall of Man was my first "M" game or "18+" game.

Granted, I played "M" games before but I never owned any. When I was going to buy Resistance I was afraid my dad wouldn't buy it for me (ID checks, I provide the money) because it was violent, but then he said these words;

"As long as you don't take it to seriously, you can play whatever you want."

And now pretty much all my games are "M" though that is just a coincidence.

I'd say GTA3 even when I asked my mum NOT to buy it (Simply on th 18 rating)
I was shocked to see it at Christmas and I never looked back.

It's impossible for me to play 18+ games being an australian.

But some of the games you guys are mentioning I've played when I was really young, like Diablo II I played when I was 10.

Don't get this game, it's really stupid.
That was a 16+...
ok, seriously

Let's stick with ESRB ratings.

I know you people CANT STAND THEM

but at least they're consistent enough

Maybe in your country it is.
Any game that lets you steal/requisition motorised vehicles gets an R18 label in my country.
Something about children getting the wrong impression or some shit.

I think my first '18' rated game was the Die Hard Trilogy on PS1 when I was about 8-9. I also had GTA 1 and a Duke Nukem game too. At the time I felt so awesome as I wasn't supposed to have them.

System Shock or Twisted Metal (not much of a fan of 18+ games, there's nothing to them really, I prefer racing games anyway :/)

Leisure Suit Larry was probably my first "non-kiddie" game i played, and i dont regret that for a second, still love the old ones, and the new ones are sort-a meh, but still fairly good.
