I learned that games had an age rating looooong after I started gaming.

Looking back Duke Nukem 3d was my first ? You could give money to the strippers in the bar if I remember correctly.

Mine was the alien trilogy on the PS1 quite possibly one of the most boring and tedious games i could have gotten it put me off buying 18+ for a while after all the risks i took getting it.

First 18 game I played was GTA3 for the PS2, but the first one I owned was GTA2 for the PS. I must have been about 9 or so.

Carmageddon, that being the first game that ever got an 18 rating, as far as I recall.

Carmageddon is the first one i can remember leaving an imprint on me. I will never forget the amount of blood and guts on show.

I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

That wasnt an 18 was it? i thought it was 15 max.

I live in UK, so most of the games mentioned here are 15 or 16+ depending on when they were realised.
I don't have anything against 18+ games but I don't think I own any...

After checking I discovered that I don't.
Although the only 18 I can think of is GTA so its more a case of few games that actually have that rating rather than not buying that sort of game.

It wasnt so much an R+18 game as a game that was banned in many countries but whatever mine was 'Manhunt'.

Hmmm.....that's a very good question. I think my first M-rated game was either Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion or Halo: Combat Evolved. Good times.

The first M-rated game I WANTED to get though, was Assassin's Creed. Eventually I ended up renting it, and after a while I was devoutly thankful I didn't buy it. Too little replay value and you can get 33/44 achievements in 12 days, in addition to beating the game.

Doom for the Super NES. Not sure if there was an ESRB back then, but I'm pretty sure it would've been rated M. I was so young I couldn't make it past the second episode because the Barons of Hell scared the crap out of me.
