There were a lot of japanese animated kids shows when I was little. I don't mean Pokemon or any of that other commercialized sh*t. But shows like The Wizard of Oz, The Swiss Family Robinson, Maple Town, Pinocchio, Candy and many others. I can't remember wich was the actual first one, though.

1) Trigun.
2) Back when I first started getting into TGWTG [http://www.thatguywiththeglasses.com/], I was working my way through the archives and came across an extremely positive review of Trigun. I'd considered getting into anime for a long time, but had been clueless as to where to start as I knew that viewing a bad one first would put me off the whole thing. The review was enough to peak my interest in the series, and it spiraled from there.
3) Yes, I was very interested in seeing more, though Trigun had little to do with that. I was just looking for a stepping stone into the anime scene.

The Mysterious Cities of Gold in the late 80's early 90's I believe, I had a crush on that chick :)

Years later, 95- 96. Ghost in the Shell. Had to watch it a number of times to "get it".

What finally hooked me was Cowboy Bebop. Not the corny plot in some episodes, but the characters and mood (and music).

Technically speaking, Pokemon. I watched it when I was younger.
First thing I sat down and marrathoned? ...Pokemon... Series one. Nostalgia!

First serious anime? Deathnote.
Most recent? Deathnote. I intend to go watch Code Geass subbed.

1- If you don't know this anime, you have to watch it because it is one of the movies that got anime popular in the U.S.

2- Brother rented it

3- yes and no, I always wanted to be an artist and I enjoy seeing other peoples art.

1: Fist of the North Star
2: I was about a year or two old and it was shown after my father's favourite show at the time. Stuck in a playpen and haven't discovered games yet me and my older brother saw it.
3: Definetly. It got me to other watch other classics such as the original Dragonball series, Dr. Slump, Mazinger Z, Tiger Mask, Captain Tsubasa and Knights of the Zodiac. Unfortunately FotN never aired again and had to wait about fifteen years just to watch it properly all over again.

1. I started watching Dragonball Z when it was on Cartoon Network then CNX/Toonami. I was young and it was awesome at the time and to this day I still love the Dragonball series.

2. To be honest when the 1st episode of Z was aired, I didn't think I would enjoy it all that much, but there wasn't much else on so I gave it a chance, and was glad I did. That series started off so well, the main guy turns up, then gets his ass kicked by his brother who he never knew existed, he finds out he's an alien, I had to keep watching to find out what will happen next.

3. It made me addicted to animé for a fair while. I still to this day enjoy many animé series, whether it be serious stuff like Deathnote, to comical stuff like Kinnikuman (Ultimate Muscle). I was fascinated how animation didn't have to be mindless stuff but actually be gripping and intense. I still to this day get goosebumps over the fight between Goku and Frieza. I didn't get introduced to Deathnote and other animé series until the last few years admittedly (thank you internets) but for all those years I wanted more.

technically the first anime i ever watched was Pokemon but the first one i watched that was subbed, not dubbed, was One Piece. it was a couple of years ago while i was in the university accommodation. it was nearly Easter and everyone was leaving but i was staying as i had a job. a friend lent me 3 anime series to keep me busy while everyone was away. the first one i watched was One Piece. i got to episode 7 and got fed up with it so tried another one, Naruto. i was hooked. on more than one occasion i considered calling work and telling them i was ill so i could stay home and watch it more. think i watched 260 episodes in 6 weeks. then watched the other anime he lent me, Bleach. twas really good but i haven't kept up to date with it like i have with Naruto. because he lent me those i now watch other anime, like Devil May Cry (twas meh), Wolf's Rain (which was great), Kiba (which was AMAZING) and i'm currently watching Inuyasha and really enjoying it.

on a side note, 2000 posts WOOOOT!!

My questions are these: 1) What is the first Anime you ever watched (If you've ever watched an anime), 2) How were you introduced to it, and 3) Did it make you want to watch more anime (Why or Why not)?

1) Death Note.
2) I'd been friends with an Albino African American Anime Otaku (no joke) for years, and he'd always tell me about various forms of anime and, after we got to know each other a bit, suggesting ones that I might like, but I've never taken the time to watch any of them because A. I'd always be too busy to sit down and watch an entire series and B. Most of the "good" ones that he describes seemed...well...weird (A notebook that kills people, a ninja in an orange jumpsuit that turns into a group of bikini clad women, cowboys in space, cowboys in space again but with rock music, a rubber band pirate, and countless renditions of giant robots fighting eachother). I finally got some down time though, took his advice, and watched Death Note (The first one he ever suggested to me, and one of two that he spoke of most frequently, the other being Naruto).
3) While I expected it to be entertaining (I knew that no one would watch it if it didn't have some merit) I was surprised and delighted by the deep character development and stunning attention to detail. I still go back and watch some of the more awesome "No ****ing way...!" moments every now and again. Needless to say, it made me want to watch other animes.

Note: If this has been done before, please link to the original thread.
1: First official anime was probably Cowboy Bebop
2: Merely stumbled upon it on my first days with the internet
3: I was surprised by the fact that it was an entire "love actually" type of story telling while being a remake the same for it tells 4 stories at the same time while also the entire series was "if you can manage to read between the lines" a remake of a famous japanese tale called Urashima Taro as well, "come on all you haters out their, cant you realize that theirs a deeper backstory to all anime out their?"

Although it was DBZ, I'm going to say Death Note and then Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, which both got me back into actually enjoying it.
I first saw Death Note when at a friend's house. I didn't even watch any of the episodes, we just did some redubbing of it without actually knowing the plot.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei kept me watching anime because it was filled with so many references to ones I hadn't seen, and then those ones were too, and those ones, etc. I just want to get the references, really.
