What was your first anime that you fully understood and focused on, like i cant say dragon ball z because i only saw a few episodes, i can't say Naruto because i really didn't think of it as an anime.....but I can say Elfen Lied because i focused on the story, learned all the characters names, felt emotions because of it, and watched it fully.....and i think my introduction to anime could not have been better. (PS. happy 1111 post to me)

Sailor Moon I guess. My daughter went through a huge craze with Sailor Moon back in the day and we watched that more often then Sesame Street. First one I cared about would be InuYasha if we are talking full length series.

Yugioh. Because there isn't much to understand and that I was a huge fan of the card game.
...I still am actually, but I think the anime is a pile of shite now.

Zoids if I remember correctly. I watched that show religiously every day after getting home from school. Liger Zero for the win.

Sailor Moon. First anime, and first anime I got really into.

Still have quite a bit of affection for the show.

The first show I actually started watching getting into Anime (Discounting Pokemon) was Elfen Lied, followed by Neon Genesis Evangelion. Both extremely bad first choices...

I never watched the animes censored to death on 4kids or Cartoon Network.

I think my first was Elfen Lied.

You read right. Elfen Lied. And it's my favorite anime.

DBZ when I was in Primary School mate. Back when it was 'THE' cool thing of the time, and how many friends you had depended on how much you knew about DBZ...needless to say, I was the most popular kid in ze world....if only for the length of the fad.

The original Bubblegum Crisis OVA from the 80s. Then Project A-Ko and Akira.

Judging from other peoples' firsts, they either got into the scene later on or I'm just old by comparison to you young people.

I didn't learn the word "anime" until I started watching DBZ, which incidentally was the first anime I started watching religiously. Then I got my first taste of Inuyasha in all of its bloody glory (and random moments of sexual harassment), and the rest is history.

First? I think it was DBZ on Toonami in the late 90's. As for what I would actually like... it would be when Cowboy Bebop aired on Adult Swim. :)

Either DBZ or Pokemon, can't remember which exactly.
"See? It's rated Y-7, so you're not mature enough to watch it like I am!"
Thems were the days.

Dragon Ball Z and Cardcaptor Sakura...I'm not sure what got me into the latter for more than 10 episodes but I always got frustrated when I missed an episode of DBZ.

aside from Pokemon, the first one i saw was One Piece but watched 7 episodes, got bored and gave up. moved on to Naruto which i loved. not sure if it's gone into filler at the mo or if all these flashback episodes were in the manga. either way, though i loved after the first couple of episodes, when Haku and Zabuza died i actually cried. then during the Chuunin Exam Arc it hit a new level of awesomeness which it hasn't yet been able to beat (even other animes haven't done anything as awesome as the Chuunin Exam Arc) though some of the other arcs were great

I watched all of DBZ up to where Kid Buu appears. Then I starteda job and missed the rest. But from start to finish, not missing anything, would be both the Hellsing TV series (OVA better!) and Gantz, as I got them on DVD at the same time and went episode by episode (Well...1/2 since Gantz was twenty something and Hellsing was only twelve).
