When I started playing video games as a kid, I loved them so much that I would just play anything I could find and wouldn't stop unless I got stuck and couldn't go any further in the game. It wasn't until I played Sonic and the Secret Rings that I actually stood up and had a stunning realization. I'm playing a video game, but I'm not having fun. I turned off the game and went to do other things even though I wasn't finished nor was I stuck, I just didn't want to play it anymore.

What was the very first game that you stopped playing not because you got stuck or it was too hard, but because it legitimately was a terrible game?

Happened to me recently with Call of Juarez: The Cartel. I played the first level, turned it off and i've not been back to it since. Very uninspiring indeed.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES.

That underwater dam level can go eat a boat. And you know what I just realized. The issue going around of nostalgia making it seem like games were better back in the day may actually have merit because I just realized that despite how hard that game sucked, I was still thinking back on playing that game with FOND MEMORIES!!

The Ghostbusters video game on the NES was terrible and damn near impossible. I remember my brother got it for xmas which was about the only time any of us got video games. We were all super bummed when we started playing it.

Worms to Playstation.
I guess you could say I got stuck though. I didn't speak English at the time so I had no clue what the hell was going on. The game seemed to play itself... Attempted it a few times, then I gave up. Was around seven years old.

I played Superman 64 a very long time. At the time I was young enough to be pleased soley by the practise mode where you got to fly around with no pressure.

Until Superman 64 was released, there wasn't a game I disliked. I loved the animated series, and I thought playing as Superman was gonna be awesome. First time I've ever rage quit on a game, and I was 9 years old.

Aquaman on Xbox. Dull, repetetive. Not broken like Batman Dark Tomorrow. Just unbearably boring.

Sonic 06 for the 360.

I came in expecting something of the same, if not higher calibur of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Boy was I dissapointed. I couldn't get past the first level at first because the speed section at the end has this glitchy loop that is supposed to lead to to a jump panel which brings you the end of the stage, but instead makes you miss the panel and fall into the drink 9 times out of 10.

What made this worse was that the game had no auto-save feature unlike it's predecesor, so when I lost all of my lives, I found that I had to do all of what I just did: doing a stupid minigame in order to win enough rings to buy some shoes, along with the massive amount of long loading screens and then finally getting back to where I just was ALL OVER AGAIN.

And if that wasn't enough, later on I had to face Silver, who is able to grab you with his psychic powers and throw you around. If you are caught above him when he catches you, he'll just throw you up in the air and then grab you again on your way back down. CHEAPEST. BOSS. EVER.

And don't even get me started on the game's story and characters...

Long story short, Sonic 06 was probably the first legitamite game that I thought was bad. Oh I tried to deny it, I really did. But when I found out how many people hated this game, I stopped denying and quit playing the game after I was done with Sonic's story.

Champions of Norrath for the PS2.

Being a kid was terrible, the only games I've ever played that passed the nostalgia test were God of War and like...I think that's the only one, actually.

Doctor robotniks mean bean machine. Begged for it thinking it was a sonic game. Parents bought it for who knows how much. Popped it in and surprise its tetris. Hated it until later in my life when my casual gaming girlfriend discovered it. She played the thing all night...and now we play it together every now and then

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil was the first bad game I played. The mechanics were fine, but the story was stupid and the level design was complete and utter nonsense.
