So what I've noticed a lot recently is that many teenagers are receiving brand new cars for their first car, which puzzles me. It seems quite risky to allow a child drive a brand new car, especially since the accident rates are extremely high (especially here in Aus).

I'm only 16, and wont be purchasing my first car for a little while yet, but iv'e always envisaged my first car as being a cheap old piece of crap that I will grow attached to! And furthermore, if i do write it off, it wont be as big a monetary loss as say a brand new $10-20,000 car.

I've been told stories by relatives of their first cars, and how shite they were, but that they were special, because the car was theirs !

So my question is to those of you that drive/have driven, what was your first car? Was it old and cheap or brand new? I'm a bit of a car person so im really interested in your first cars!

Did a review on it. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.315830-Redlins-EXTREME-30K-Review-The-Geobat]

Simultaneously loved it and hated it. Honestly I'm very bitter about kids these days getting brand new cars without having to pay for it themselves and *grumble grumble grumble*
