I think we're neck-and-neck for caducity, but you've got me beaten in breadth. I missed the whole NES -> SNES -> PS -> PS2 era of console gaming, as well as not owning a PC until Pentiums came out.

I assume the Spectrum was fairly common in certain parts of the world, but I'd never heard of it until now.

I take it that you're not British. The Sinclair [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Spectrum#ZX_Spectrum_.2B2] (the English guy/ company that invented the pocket calculator and a bunch of other crap) and was mostly a Northern Europe thing or so I understand. I think that virtually every guy that is now 28-35 in the UK had one at one point.
It had a whopping 8 COLOURS and had a built in tape deck for easy loading of games that sounded like a fax machine and could take anywhere from 1-8 minutes to load.... not too dis-similar to today with all of the cut scenes and intros etc.
