I'm not that old but I've been gaming since before I started school and that is a long time compared to my life... It's a bit blurry but here it is-
Platformer-Crash Bandicoot, love the series and love platformers.
Realistic Fighting-Tekken 2, later got tekken 1 and now have tekken 1-6 but I don't really like many other fighting games
Other Fighting-Probably Super Smash Bros. Melee, love brawling games.
JRPG-Pokemon, why not? and a fan of the series obviously. Other JRPG's are fun too, Kingdom hearts probably towards the top for this genre
Racing-Grand Turismo, Liked messing around but not really into the real thing, but I was young, might try it again.
FPS-Either James Bond: Nightfire or MOH: Frontline. Enjoy FPSs but not my favorite genre and I now hate CoD because of MOH
TPS-Ratchet and Clank, probably like TPSs more than FPSs but maybe I'm just playing the wrong games.
The rest are pretty scrambled if these are even straight.

[old stuff]
Yay for my fellow "old" people. Wolf3D was my first FPS, too (unless you count stuff like Spectre, which is debatable), and I'm pretty sure Zork was my first adventure game, as far as I can remember. My first roguelike was actually Rogue, even. Heh.

First rpg was Baldur's Gate 2, and they haven't been as good since. First rts was Starcraft, haven't owned an fps (unless you count Fallout 3), first platformer was Super Mario Land... no earthly idea what my first puzzle was. First time sink was neopets, but it got old when you basically played it either to make money or just for the minigames.

Oh and my first MMO was EQOA, and damn did WoW make the genre more accessible.

My first real forray into the fighting game genre was Street Fighter: Alpha 2. I remember spending tons of quarters on playing games with myself and others, going online to figure out new moves, and just trying to get further and further in the game. My crowning achievement was a full run as Ryu on a single quarter.
It really got me started on the twitch reflexed necessary for those kinds of games, and I've been throwing fireballs ever since.

SimCity on the SNES was the first step away from "oh, this is a nice little way to pass a rainy day" and into gaming-as-obsession territory. Once I discovered builders, that was pretty much it.

RTS:Command & Conquer:Red Alert one(PC)
FPS:Red Faction 2(PS2)
Stealth/Covert:Hitman:Agent 47(PC)
EasternRPG:The Legend of Dragoon(PS1)
WesternRPG:Would Hellgate:London count?(PC)
Hack em' Up:Diablo I(PC)
Racing:Crash Team Racing(PS1)
Platformer:Crash Bandicoot 2:The Wrath of Cortex(PS1)
Rail Shooter:StarFox(SNES)
God Game:Dungeon Keeper(PC)
Mech:MechWarrior:31st Century Combat(PC)
I'm not loyal to specific genres, however I'm loyal to the games that I've played and enjoyed. Of all the games on this list, the only one I didn't enjoy was Hitman:Agent 47. It turned me off to stealth games for the longest time, until I picked up Chaos Theory. Still can't beat mission two,but I don't care, cuz I have infinite fun shoving/yanking guys off ledges and watch them plummet to their deaths!

Fighting: World Heroes - I was pretty much a fan of the fighting genre the first time I laid eyes on them. World Heroes is just the first one I managed to get my hands on. Been playing pretty much any fighting game I can try ever since

Racing: Bill Elliot's Nascar Challenge - Again, I was already attracted to racing games from the get go. I'm pretty sure I played older racing games on the PC, but this is the first one that I actually remember. I don't think I was really a fan until Need for Speed Underground though.

Western RPG: Drakkhen - My mom got me this game when I was a kid, and I really only chose it because I liked the cover. I actually finished it, but it must not have been very good, because I don't recall touching another Western RPG for a few years until KOTOR if I remember correctly. I don't think I really became a fan of western RPG's until Fallout 3 and Mass Effect though.

JRPG: Chrono Trigger - Probably one of the first games I chose for myself and not because someone was buying it for me or because I had seen a friend playing it. Definitely made me a fan of the genre, so much so that I still prefer the old sprites to the super pretty JRPG's of today.

FPS: Doom - One of my friends had it on his computer as a kid (and another one called "Blood"), and I'd play it whenever I was over at his house. I wouldn't say it made me a fan though. I'd say Goldeneye took that title.

Third Person Shooter: Winback - I recall enjoying the game quite a bit, but I wouldn't say it made me a fan of the genre since I don't remember playing many third person shooters until the current generation, unless you want to count Resident Evil 4 as a third person shooter.

Sidescrolling: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - This was actually also the first console game I ever played, again, at a friends house. It made me a fan, but then, I was a kid and this was Ninja Turtles, so it didn't take much back then.

Horror: F.E.A.R. - I suppose this one's a little subjective, since I played Resident Evil before this, but since this is the first game that actually scared me, I have to say that this is the first horror game I ever played, and definitely the one that made me a fan of the genre, actually prompting me to backtrack to older games like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame.

Shooter: Top Gun - Anybody who watches Angry Video Game Nerd or has played this knows that it's damn near impossible to deal with, so while I liked the game, it didn't make me a fan. However, like fighting and racing games, as a kid, I was naturally drawn to shooters, or anything with planes in general. Star Fox made me a fan of the shooting genre, with an honorable mention to Lethal Enforcers for being the game that made me love Light Gun Shooters as a kid.

And that's all I remember..... which is good, since this post is too long as it is.
