Any evidence for that claim? I'm sorry, but I get very worried when I hear the younger generations speak so cavalierly about such dangerous weapons.
Supporting this position. You people and your guns! You know that once you buy a gun, it is by far the most likely weapon to kill you if you are to be murdered, right?
but it does NOT increase your likelyhood to be murdered. and this brings me to another point, why is it that the weapon used is more important that the reason the murder occurred?

in any case, this is NOT a gun debate, but a thread about what a persons first gun was if they owned one. if your going to come in here with nothing but arguing that guns are good/bad there are other threads for that.

mine was a cz-75 i got a few months ago.

This is my first gun

Thankfully shotguns are still easy to get hold of in Blighty :). Despite looks it was brand new when I bought it last year.

An FN Five Seven? For home defense? You could do a lot better, and cheaper. From what I've heard the ammo is hard to come by (and expensive) in the 'states. I'd would rather go with something like a Sig P220 in .45 ACP, or a Smith & Wesson model 686. Large caliber guns is (in my opinion) the way to go for self-defense firearms.

In a self defense situation you won't really be aiming down the sights, you'd be point-shooting. You'd want a round that will put an attacker on his ass, no matter where they get hit.

Guns are outlawed in Malta. Hell I wouldn't even dream of carrying such an easy tool.

Does a self-made replica of the Vampire Killer count? It's a weapon too.

Hmm...I've never owned a gun in real life, so I shall go with a more on-topic thing. Video game gun. :D

My first gun in a video game would be the Rifle in Final Doom for the PC. Man I loved that gun to death.

Otherwise, I have a 17-gauge, bolt-action rifle in my house, but it isn't mine, so...yeah. I've taken it to a firing range, at least?
2 things wrong here 1 no such thing as 17 gauge, second gauge when talking about guns refers to shotguns and some cannons but not rifles.

edit i put 12 instead of 2 my bad

Second.
this isn't a thread about debating whether owning a gun is good or not. If you don't want a gun don't post in this thread, there are others for you to debate on.

Though I didn't technically own it, but an old M16A2 was the first gun ever assigned to me. We can spend hours discussing how inferior it was to the A4 or to the M4, and it would take even longer for me to talk about how much I prefer the M249 (The next weapon I was assigned), but I digress.

I like your pistol, though.

The handgun (or one of the handguns) I plan on one day picking up is this:
They do cost quite a bit, so I will only get one under special circumstances.
Yes, that is a Gyrojet Pistol.
Yes, the rounds are miniature rockets.
Yes, it is beautiful.
Not only will it be expensive but each round costs around 100 dollars a round.

My first gun will be a Sig Sauer P226. Generally regarded as one of the most reliable guns made, and also as one of the most accurate pistols out of the box.

I'll be buying this in the future for self-defense. Unfortunatly, coyotes live around my house for most of the year, and I'll be damned if they get one of my dogs.

My first gun was a 12-gauge shotgun for shooting clay pigeons.

However, my favorite gun of mine is the Yugoslavian SKS

Not to harp on your choice, but in what world would you need a self-defense weapon capable of defeating body armour.

Ive taken a 12 gauge hunting. But Id never own a Handgun. Not that i could, in the UK its hard enough to get a rifle, and even then if you ever use it in self defence you can be prosecuted. Not to sound like a pussy- but in any situation that people might want a gun (getting mugged, carjacked etc) All your doing is posing a big enough threat to the attacker to get your ass shot quicker. I do have a few knives that I could use if we ever got robbed, but thats it.

Thats the reason I think most people have died.

I will never own a gun, no reason to do so, if I get held up at gun point give them want they want by throwing it away from me then run in the other direction.

Better than risking your life by creating a stand off for the sake of a bit of cash.

Thats how I see it anyway, a bit of a hippy stand point but if nobody had weapons the world would be a better place.

Instead were armed to the teeth, each one paranoid the other will attack first and it seems alot of people (especially Americans, how many of your schools have been or nearly shot up?) have itchy trigger fingers.
