I sandblasted paint off of cast-iron bathtubs. It was okay, nothing particularly awful about it, though it didn't pay particularly well either.

Busboy/dishwasher at a local pizza restaurant. This was back in the early 90s so the pay was crap but if I wanted a car, I had to have a job. Overall, it was a terrible job but I did get some boob fondleage in and did have a cute latina chick remove her pants infront of me. Ahhh....the joys of being and working with horny teenagers.

I worked in my uncle's warehouse for his electrical contracting business. It was awful, awful, awful. Both of the other people who worked there smoked like chimneys and I couldn't get away from it (I'm allergic). Occasionally "got" to go out to construction sites, and that was worse. Basically it was the point in my life when I stopped totally dicking around in school because I never wanted to have to do that kind of work again. So I guess in terms of being a formative experience it was really good to have.

Also, its really great to have money of your own for when you want to go out and do stuff.

I was eleven years old and I delivered newspapers after school. My boss was a major prick who would often follow me around in a car to see if I was doing everything right. He also gave me the biggest and most spread-out route and rang me up at night if I spent more than an hour on any given day to complain despite the fact that my satchel full of papers was heavier than I was.

Anyway, that paper merged with another and my boss got laid off. So fuck him.

Well, as summer slowly creeps closer, I'm mulling around the idea of trying to get a job. My older peers say I won't be accepted much due to me being 15, but what the hell, gotta try anyways.

So, Escapees, what was your first paying job?
My first job has been awesome, started as an Aerospace Engineering Apprentice last year.

My first job was at a pet supply store. "Until I find something better" turned into 3 years and a hatred for the average retail customer.

Due to a number of unfortunate occurrences including my school cocking up both opportunities for me to go on work experience, I have yet to work for any company. I've applied to wash dishes at a pub round the corner from my house though, so it'll be great if that works out.

At the moment, I babysit for my sister's friend's mum sometimes, which pays well but isn't reliable enough (it's once a month, if that).

Working in the local hotel, basically as a everyman. I was 14, great times. Boring ass job although if you wanted you could make yourself lunch whenever you wanted, show up an hour later, drink free sodas.

When they were closing and me and my friend got the slip, while he was working i snuck in the back and filled my backpack with soda, cider and stuff, those were the greatest times.

My first job was as a shop assistant in Poundstretchers, it lasted roughly an afternoon.

Then I worked at Focus. On my first day a homeless man called Neil(tattoed across his knuckles as proof)told me not to waste my life toiling away in a job. "Life isn't in there, it's out there" he said, he was pointing at the sky as he said it...but I think I know what he was talking about. I managed to stick it out for a couple of months, then quit one morning when I decided I couldn't deal with a 10 hour shift on the register.

Now I work at a pub, which I have done for about 4 years. It's the best job I've had so far, but I'm stagnating...wondering where my wreckless abandon has gone.

I got a summer job as a secretary at the county Juvenile Detention when I was in high school, it was pretty cool if you like filing.

Washing cars for a rental company. The work was menial but not hard, but it still really sucked since everyone hated each other and every day was a mine field of people trying to sabotage and fight with each other. It honestly would have been fine if I hadn't worked with such absurdly childish people.

I just got my first job a few days ago, as dishwasher at a local italian restaurant.
I don't know what I am getting paid, I'm not aware of any schedual but if I want a car in the distant future or indeed some new strings for my guitars this is the only way.
