Hey there, Escapists! I'm a really happy man right now, and I'm sure my topic title can explain why. I just saw my first live show of a band ever, and it was amazing. I almost burst into tears at how good it was.

The band I saw was Kansas, most famous for their hits "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind", but every song they played invoked some kind of emotion in me, and there wasn't a single song they played that I disliked. I nearly started crying when they played my personal favorite of theirs,

and I was amazed at some of their songs I had never heard before, like this
Overall, for my first live show, I felt it was very much worth the money, and already one of the best experiences of my life.

So my question to you all is...what was the first live show of a band you ever witnessed, and how did it make you feel?

Mine was a double header of Status Quo and Deep Purple.

Blew my mind and started a great appreciation of live music.

My first was a show in a tiny club with about a hundred people packed into a room slightly larger than the average kitchen. There were some emo bands that weren't that great, then some awesome punk and metal bands later. Was only $5, because it was all local bands.

My first show was a concert of Fall Out Boy. I stayed there for a bit but left because of the inevitable traffic. My first real one which I fondly remember and enjoyed was the Escape to Plastic Beach tour by the Gorillaz. It was a great event, the musicians were excellent and helped create an enjoyable atmosphere. I feel that maybe if I was born a little earlier I could truly appreciate seeing the bassist and guitarist of the Clash though.

Now in one week, I look forward to my next one which I believe will be even better.

Mine was AC/DC, but it was supposed to be Aerosmith, which at the time was my favorite band, so I would've easily flipped shit. Though, my favorite concert by far was easily my Coheed and Cambria concert. The concert was perfect and really just a magical experience. I feel a lot of connection with the lyrics in their songs and still do, and because basically everyone at those smallish concerts are hardcore fans, everyone was singing alongside with the lead singer during the acoustic set, and it was intense.

Mine was The Proclaimers and The B-52's, and it was amazing, with the lights, the acoustics, and everything else.

My first show was Cancer Bats, by the end of the night I was sore, half-deaf, and soaked in sweat...I couldn't have been happier.

First band I saw live was Europe. Was just accompaning a friend, so it wasn't very special for me. The singer managed to kick the sound system to hell, or something, though. We had to listen to the drums for Rock the Night for 20 minutes.

The most awesome concert I've been to though was Priest Feast back in 2008. Judas Priest, Megadeth and Testament during a single show. Fuck was that amazing. Just threw it out there since my first concert was so unspectacular.

The first one I saw was Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman teaming up to play acoustic/synthesiser versions of old Yes classics in a little hall. It was rather more intimate than your average concert (particularly with the banter those two had going - Rick is HILARIOUS) but very enjoyable.

First concert ever was Trooper. It was pretty cool.
First concert without my parents was warped tour. Saw a lot of great shows that day. Good mix of punk and metal bands. Skipped the rest that I didn't feel seeing.

I went to see Gallows with my dad and one of his friends (They paid for me to get in)

It was pretty good, there were a few other punk bands playing aswell, I had a bit of fun with the mosh pit and also got quite a lot of beer (My dads friend kept buying me more beer every couple of minutes, he spent about £50 on beer for me)

The evening ended with a long discussion about the sex shop that was down the street from where the concert was.

My first show of a big band was the Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails, and it felt amazing. Going to concerts is one of my favourite things to do of all time, its fuckin amazing. That first one was good few years ago now, when the Foo fighters weren't that big but big enough to fill a pretty big outdoor park. I didn't really know as much about them as I would other bands but I did like the foo fighters and I didn't really know anything about NIN. Went away loving both of them and loving concerts immensely. One of the best days of my life, although alot of other gigs were better, but nothing is quite like the first.

Jealousy level from 1 to 10: 11

Both of those bands are near the top of my bucket list.

Lots of local metal and punk bands in high school... first big one was Korn/Staind on the Family Values Tour in 1999. It was a pretty awesome show, introduced me to Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Festival (shock humor impressed me when I was a teenager), but now... I'd rather see Kansas. So I'm jealous.
