RuneScape. That game was really popular back then...
But after that, I kinda didn't play a lot of MMOs...Maybe Rakion counts?
Anyways, eventually i stumbled upon Dungeons & Dragons Online, and quickly got addicted to it since i had played a lot of D&D3.5 and there were a lot of similarities. Great game, really enjoyed it.

Runescape :D
I still give it a good go nowadays, though I usually stick with WoW.

Do MUDs count as MMOs?
If not, then Tibia.
Same as me.

There was also that brief time I played FFXI. Anyone who says WoW is a grindfest...go and play that game.

Runescape, classic game, don't go on it very often any more but when I do I always have a pretty good time just with the nostalgia :p

I used to play a little known MMO called Asherons Call, designed by the good folk up at Turbine. Played it for years from (12-16 I think) although I never really got anywhere.

I still miss it.

RuneScape, like many others. My first of about 3 (I've played on Space4k and Tribal wars, but they were more tactical based MMO's with a bit lest MMOing)

Lineage 2, was on a private server with increased xp rates though.

Thinking it through it might have been Runescape but I don't really remember.

Ragnarok Online, I dabbled in Everquest around the same time but I just never got into it/ understood it. Played a ton of RO until I got banned. WoW beta came out, made my transition to WoW for all of beta-end of vanilla. Went back to RO for about 3 months, quit after items got jacked and GMs did nothing to help. Stayed in WoW through BC-Wrath quick half a year before cataclysm. Throughout this time I picked up various MMOs like City of Heroes/Villians, Age of Conan, Everquest 2, Final Fantasy 11, etc. Never really enjoyed them.
I'm pretty done with MMOs unless the formula changes drastically.

Probably either Runescape or Tibia.

Think it was Tibia, yeah. "misklik! misklik! noooo!"

Runescape. That game had some awesome humour in it's quests, but the relentless skill grinding was really boring.

I moved on to Guild Wars after a few years away from RS, but I don't think I would have spent as much time playing it as I have if it weren't for the friends I was playing it with.

EVE Online was the first MMO I tried, a fairly brutal introduction to MMO's, especially given that I didn't do the tutorial, thinking it unnessescary. Fantasy genre on a whole I'm not interested it, so not many MMO's out there that appeal to me, tried a few other sci-fi MMO's and a few fantasy ones but nothing comes close to EVE imo.

Guild Wars.. I think.

Maybe Runescape, but I only played it for like 5 minutes cuz I thought it was fucking horrible.

Runescape, I mostly goofed off playing all the minigames, so it never really got into a grindfest.
Then I moved onto WOW (Pre WOTLK) , played it for about a year, quit, lost interest
Now after cataclysm I have been playing it again, and it certainly is a better game now, favourite zone so far being hillsbrad foothills.

Well first of all when I was a kid, I played Runescape after my friends introduced me to it.

Then I bought Guild Wars and its first expansion pack but didn't play it for long as I didn't have anyone else to play with online.

Finally I got WoW which was lots of fun at first until Blizzard started spraying bullshit everywhere with their patches released after The Burning Crusade came out and made my experience much harder. Then a month after I stop playing they clean up all the bullshit and make the game easier. This was my reaction... "WHAT THE FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF************!!!!"

Now I'm looking to play either the free LOTRO or APB when it comes out and also KOTORO when its out. I also have a small inkling of attraction to WoW again after Cataclysm came out.
