In any game, What game did you experienced the feeling of Multiplayer? Online or Offline. My first online experience is GTA San Andreas Multiplayer (SA-MP) and the first ever offline experience with my buddy is from WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2006.

If you willing to share more info about your experience on your first try to the online gaming world or the offline world of your bedroom with friends. Go ahead.

Counter-strike, the original. I remember playing it before they released 1.6 which I believe is still the current version of the game?

I was really young, and I remember being so proud to join a 'clan'. They actually taught me a lot about playing multiplayer, I kinda lost interest after source came out though.

That's a toughie for me, I don't think I quite remember my first online expeireance. But I'd bet it was on a disk that came with the orignal Xbox. The one that contained a Star Wars The clone wars(Based on Episode 2 since the current day cartoon hadn't started yet.) and Tetris Worlds.

Star Wars the clone wars had online(Along with an incredibly fun single player.) and a survival mode which would pit you and up to three other people against waves of various enemy Separatist vehicles. It had boss waves and powerups scattered about that could make you invinceable or increase the damage of your weapons.

Ahh the nostalgia trip you give me OP, I can remember hours of fun playing on one particularly small map which had a cave in one side that me and the other players would hide in giggling at how the boss(An oversized Spider Droid if memory serves.) couldn't actually get to us in there. Waiting forever for the one powerup on the inside of that cave to cycle to inviciblity so we could try and take on the boss.

There was another multiplayer mode to that which was competitive and had bases to capture along with waves of AI bots that would attack the opponents base.(The objetive being to destroy the enemy base.) I wasn't too good at keeping up with other players in that game mode so I didn't play it too often.

I think the OP was asking for your first online competitive game

Hmmm mine would probably be Mario Kart Wii.I was pretty late to the whole online gaming thing

I guess my first experience would be MW2 or star craft and that didn't last very long I don't really care for online gaming I tend to play a lot of local.

If we're talking online multiplayer, that would probably be when my friend got the original Tribes for the PC way back in the day. We thought it was so crazy awesome that you could have a fight in the clouds, fall all the way down to earth, then jetpack back up to the fight.

EDIT: wait i was wrong, i went through a phase where i played those online text-based MUDs or MUSHs or whatever they were. even made one with a couple friends. damn i'm old . . .

Well, if we're going for just competitive multiplayer not using online, it'd be something on the N64. Probably Goldeneye or Mario Kart.

If you want online, it'd be Resistance: Fall of Man.

And that's still my favorite FPS.

For me it was an old first-person shooter for the PC called Heretic. It was doom-style, only instead of a space wizard you play as a mage of some sorts. Ahhhhh, I still remember the days with 56K modems and direct-dialing connection to your friend's computer.

I feel old now. u.u

Unreal. 56k fragging ftw. It was funny too, when I'd run into teammates that forgot you could kill animals to regain some health. The benefits of playing the single-player beforehand.

For me, earliest I can recall is Ragnarok Online. My friend introduced me to it and it pretty much got me interested in MMORPGs in general.

Super Mario Bros and the teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games did have 2 and 4 player respectively. But they were just side scrolling.

I guess for true multilayer in the sense your talking about would be Golden Eye or Conker's Bad Fur day. But I assume the first.

My family didn't have a decent internet connection until I was in high school, so I arrived a bit late to the party. The first online multiplayer game I remember playing was Jedi Outcast.

It was a rather steep learning curve at first, what with all the different weapons and Force powers at your disposal. I caught on rather quickly, though (probably because I finished single player mode first). I actually preferred using blasters and other guns rather than lightsabers. People often underestimated their usefulness, and I exploited that to the fullest. I also enjoyed the custom insta-gib servers. Picture Quake 3's insta-gib mode, but with Force powers thrown in. Most of the fighting took place in the air, with people using Force Speed and Force Jump to practically fly across the map. It was glorious.

First multiplayer at all? MUD, don't even recall it's name now, it was ages ago on 33.6 kbits modem.
First competitive multiplayer experience? None other than Quake.

The Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II Demo, on Zone. Anyone else remember that website? Only supported up to 4 players though JK theoretically supported up to 32, but since no one connected except through zone, that was just a pipe dream.
