The first time I overwrote my save on Final Fantasy VII. I was right at the end of the second disk. I was also pretty young, so it had taken me no less than 100 hours to get there. Gone. Poof.

When I realized that Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts was to be there instead of Banjo-Threeie which I was so looking forward to.

Arc the Lad 3. The thing just froze while I was saving. Result afterwards: The longest night in my gaming career. Not because I stayed up to make up for lost progress, it's because I had a really tough time sleeping. 40 hours down the drain...

This one time I was playing Pokémon Gold with a friend, and he wanted a Totodile so I trhought "okay, I'll make a new game, give him the totodile, then power-off after the trade, I won't save, so I won't lose my sweet save file!"

Well, the game saves right before you trade. Spamming "A" through this was natural to me seeing as how they say "OMG SAVE GAME OVERWRITE ARE YOU SHUR" all the goddamn time I just kind of filter it out.

Then I turn off the game, turn it back on, and notice my name is now "AAAAAAA."

I spent god knows how long maybe about a year playing FF9 got right near the end and whilst saving i removed the memory card because i wanted to see a cut sequence again!

My first real nooooooooooo moment that I remember was when my mother took my Big Foot Monster truck toy away from me when I was little. I had taken a steak knife and stabbed the heck out of the living room couch; I liked the sound the serrated part of the knife made when it went in the material of the couch. I was devestated. That truck had a yellow key on top that made engine noises and headlights flash when you turned it.

I was seven, I read the bridge to terabithia and realized at the end of that book what death is, and how it is unavoidable and that we are all destined to die, it is only the when and where that is unknown. I haven't been the same since.

See, I read the end of that book and thought, "hey, I think I'd like a sandwich. I might die. I better get a sandwich." Life is hilariously brief and tragic.
