It's not that ironic, statistically, 33% of people playing got the number one pokemon first.

I got Charmander I think. First pokemon I ever caught was presumably a pidgey or some other shit one.

no i don't think 33% went for the plant instead of the turtle or dragon.

how about 10 or 5%

Charmander in Pokemon Blue. Only because someone told me if I picked that one I would get a cool dragon...they forgot to tell me it would take 30 levels to get said dragon!!!

First one I played was Crystal - got Chikorita. Mainly because my mates (who had just got Gold and Silver) took Totodile and Cyndaquil.

Sure, why not. Bulbasaur was the best one to pick anyway, considering the first 2 gyms are rock and water.

My first was Charmander from Pokemon Red, which I got because at the time Charzard (that's the right name, right?) was my favorite.

Charmander from Pokemon Red. It made things difficult at the start of the game, but it gets a little easier later on...

I actually know a lot of people who went after Bulbasaur first.

Mine was a Squirtle.
I was somewhat immature at that point and tried to call him 'Bubbles' but accidentally called him 'Bubless' and I decided to stick with it.

Incidentally it was Squirtle that got me into Pokemon and a Squirtle that made me hate Pokemon, but that's another story....

Officially it was Pikachu in Yellow. But if you meant out of the regular games it was Charamander in Blue.

But in that same blue verson I had a level 55 Magikarp that knew flamethrower from a Brain Boy, so I guess that doesn't really count.
