yellow, i have never played another pokemon since (mostly because i never really got the time to play one. I just tried out Emerald on an emulator, maybe because it was on an emulator, it just wasn't as fun. my biggest problems with what I saw was the new pokemon, they just seem pretty stupid. The ones on yellow were original yet well designed. But hey, just my opinion.

Red. All the way.

I'm not entirely sure how I came to get it, but I guess I heard about it from a friend, and then maybe got it and a Gameboy for Christmas. I remember that I was in elementary school, so I must have gotten it pretty soon after it came out in the US.

I got Blue on day 1. It started my run of always starting with the Water type. I've only broken that run once, Pearl version and Chimchar.

So... Blue, Silver, Emerald, Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver.

I got Pokémon: Red, pretty much when it first came out. Because Red's a way cooler colour than Blue.
Same game, same time, same reason. Of course it was going to sell better, it had Charizard on the box! A fire-breathing Dragon. I still have the cartridge here too actually...I should go back and play it a bit.

Yellow, and I've gotten every version since...

...and caught them all in every version...

...and plan to get Black and White as well.

I'm officially a fanboy, aren't I?

First one was Pokemon Blue, because it had an awesome turtle with cannons on the cover. Also I liked the color blue.

After that I was hooked, it was followed by Yellow, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Pearl, and Platinum. Next up is Black Version.

I still stand by the Giant Turtle with cannons on it's back as the cooler mon. Though I agree, the dragon probably helped Red sell better.

Ironically, it was Venasaur who was the strongest. He had the elemental advantage over Blastoise. Also, Charizard was vulnerable to Sleep Powder. Once you knock out the dragon, you solar beam it to death (unless there was a TM for Body Slam...I can see Venasaur using Body Slam)

Sapphire I started late the series hit when I was 5 years old but at the time I thought it was just a show and trading card game, it wasn't until I was 10 that I discovered the games, my friend had Sapphire so I asked my parents for it and they bought it for me.

I still have it and I recently started it over with another starter.

When i was little, i had Pokemon Red, but somehow whenever I restarted the Gameboy, it deleted my saved game. Everytime. So i had to leave it on for the longest time. and ever so lucky my saved game wasn't deleted. I got up to a level 78 Charizard and 5 other Pokemon that were 2-10 levels. Until I got to the water temple. And I couldn't beat it, so I turned off the game, because I didn't want to grind all my other Pokemon to level 75-80 just yet.

It deleted my saved game.

The first one I got was Sapphire.

Mega confusion followed when I didn't recognize any of the Pokemon (I had stopped watching the show before they got out of Kanto, so all the Hoenn Pokemon were completely alien to me).

Ugh.... I <3 Pokemon, Nintendo has basically sold me on every gameboy iteration due to Pokemon.

Order I got my games in:
Blue
Red
Yellow
Silver
Gold
Sapphire
Ruby
Pearl
Soul Silver

Also got:

The Pokemon Trading Card Game
Pokemon Pinball

I'm not sure which version i'm going to get come March, i'm just really happy that Black/White isn't for the 3DS.

The First one I got was blue, because I liked the colour blue more then red. Then I got red, then yellow and then it proceeded to go like this as a list of all the pokemon games I have in order of obtaining:
-Gold
-Silver
-Crystal
-Sapphire
-Ruby
-Leaf Green
-Emerald
-Pearl
-Heart Gold

ANd so thats where I stand today.

Red, translated into French. It was impossible to find an English version in francophone Europe (Belgium to be exact), and my French was better than my English at the time.

English-only after that (French quickly became "uncool" for me), up till SoulSilver. I'm not sure whether i will be getting Black/White.

My first was Gold/Silver/Crystal. I got the Limited Edition GameBoy Color that came with all three. I started Gold first which is why my characters are always named Golden now in every Pokemon game. I later got Blue version from a friend (he had 2 copies and promised to give me one when I got a GBC). Crystal version is still my favorite to this day.

Pokemon Red and Blue was my first. I got them at the same time I got a Gameboy(rather the reason why I got a GB) and I figure it was around year... 2000 or so. My sister played on Red and I got Blue.

pokemon pinball (gameboy color)
hey you pikachu (N64)
pokemon stadium 2 (N64)
pokemon battle revolution (wii)
pokemon dash (ds)

i played gold and got most of the pokemon, completed every task possible in ruby, and beat emerald and leaf green. leaf green was funny because i ended up with a party where 5/6 of my main party was some form of flying time (charizard, pidgeotto, moltres, articuno, zapdos, mewtwo)
