I started with Blue and adored my Squirtle! Gold was a headf*ck but I managed.
What was wrong with Gold? Was it too big or something? I personally like the Gold and Silver and their remake counterparts the most because there is so much to do compared to the other games.

I finally beat the second go-round with the Elite Four in Heart Gold with my team that consists of:

Typhlosion
Golduck
Butterfree
Exeggutor
Noctowl
Dragonite

They are around levels 65 and 66 at the moment, I need to do some level grinding to get them up to the needed level for the final battle with Red.

This is the order of games I got:

Blue
Gold
Silver
Crystal
Ruby
FireRed
HeartGold
Platinum

Finished them all.

I'm not really planning on getting Black or White. Perhaps I might fold later on. I got really hardcore in HeartGold and Platinum getting really good teams on those. the rest are just innocent children.

My cousin had pokemon red and I used to sneak goes on it. He's an only child and his parents basically buy him whatever he wants, I'm the oldest of six. I had to save up for a year to buy blue for myself.

My first was Pokemon Blue, got it on the christmas after I saw when they started the anime on the morning ITV1 show (SMTV I think it was called, it had ant and dec hosting) Didn't figure out I could save until a few days after so I kept playing through to vidirian forest over and over.

I remember getting a GBC at a yard sale, and the kid who sold it to me gave me gave me Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Season AND Oracle of Time. My friend really wanted Time, so he traded me Yellow, Blue, Gold, Silver, and Crystal, all at the same time.

Blue, Gold, Crystal (meh-ish because there was't any change), Ruby, Leaf Green, Platinum and Soul Silver.

Gold was and still is the best and at the present, I can't see anything getting me back into the series. A shame because the older games were the best for the hand-held consoles in my book, hands down winners.

When I was a kid, I got GameBoy Pocket and Pokemon Yellow for it. Damn, everybody was so jealous of my yellow thunder rat! Yellow was way better than red or blue.

The first Pokemon game I got is red. My bro bought me red and he had blue (he also bought himself a Gameboy Color) so that way we can trade and battle each other.
