The first game RPG I ever played was Dragon Warrior. As much of a grindfest as it was, I still loved it and completed it several times. I think I jumped straight to FF6 afterward, since it's what was available to me. Since then, well... most of my game library is RPGs.

As far back as I can remember Suikoden and Final Fantasy VII I got them around the same time ad kept alternating. Come to think of it Suikodem got real hard and I never finished it as I was too young...

my first was mario rpg legend of the 7 stars for snes. grandia was pretty fun tho. 2 and 3 werent that bad either.

My first RPG was the original Bard's Tale on a Commodore 64 - assuming you don't count Adventure for the Atari 2600 as an RPG. Those Bard's Tale games (I-III) were brilliant - as were the old SSI gold box games (Forgotten Realms and DragonLance).

My answer would have had to change to "The Legend of Zelda" on the NES...
But it's an adventure game.

rpg is such a broad term that zelda could be considered one

as for me ive been playing video games for 22 years since I was 5 when i didnt even know what an rpg was. It wasnt until I played ff6 when i was 17 that i was told what rpgs were but before that id been playing rpgs for years. As for my first it could arguably be zelda but more than likely it was another quasi rpg or even ff6 that could be considered my first.

Mine was technically Icewind Dale for the PC. I say technically, because I found it boring, and eventually stopped playing, and lost the disc. So my first RPG that I actually played and enjoyed was Fable.

Chrono Trigger for the SNES was the start of a long fixation for RPGs on my end.

I don't remember the first, but I remember the one that got me hooked to RPG's;

Lufia and the fortress of doom

God I miss SNES rpg's.
Fully aware of the whole "run an old game and a new one next to each other and cry at your childhood memories" thing. But no HD/blu-ray game is even coming close to recreating the atmosphere in those good old-fashioned RPG's.
