Just heard Gun's n Roses "Sweet Child of Mine" on csi and thought "ah that's the song it all started with...stopped listening to hip hop and started with GnR, AC/DC and Iron Maiden and harder and harder from then on and picked up a guitar"

So what is "the song" that "pushed" you into your current "main" music style?

PS: If you don't remember/have a song like that what is the song that makes you say "now THAT is why i love "insert genre""

I don't really have a "main" music style, but the song record that got me comfortable with jazz was Heavy weather by Weather report.
Specifically, Teen town, Birdland, Palladium and The juggler are favourites of mine.

Pretty sure it was Bark at the Moon. Heard it on Guitar Hero and thought "Whoa. That was wicked." Put away the Black Eyed Peas and picked up some Metallica.

Slam, by Pendulum was my first experience with Electronica.
Remember The Name by Fort Minor was one of the first good rap songs I listened to.
The Trooper got me into metal.

I don't really have a main genre, I suppose, but those are some of the ones I listen to most.

Watched Highlander when I was a kid when it was released on VHS.

The one and only time i've shed a tear over a movie but I was only 6.

Got me listening to Queen. Been a huge fan since then.

There were two for me, I heard them both in a film. All My Best Friends are Metalheads by Less Than Jake and The Impression that I get by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I've loved Ska music ever since

GnR and Black Sabbath cemented my love for rock but K-ON was the show that got me to pick up and learn a guitar (sad but true).

Up until about 5th grade I listened exclusively to Christian rock music. Then a friend gave me Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. And that opened me up to basically everything else I listen to now

Cthulhu Dawn got me started on Cradle of Filth and, that particular type of metal. Fight by Dying Breed got me started on rock and metal in general though years before. Finally, Shiroi hada ni kuru ai to kanashimi no RONDO got me really into J-Rock.

my friend, mentor, father figure, Mr Miyagi etc... he gave me his headphones. he said "this is slipknot, Before I Forget."
i said "What is this i dont even. why do i feel compelled to move my head in a back and forth motion in time to the beat."
and then i became awesome.

The song that first got me into hip hop was Eminem's "Without Me". I think I was 12 at the time and I had previously only been exposed to my dad's collection of rock and metal albums. Although I'd heard hip hop before and enjoyed it, Eminem's lyrical content was unlike anything I'd heard before. I was intrigued and wanted to hear more, hence my entry into the world of hip hop as well as the requisite teenage renegade mindset.

'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC brought me into the harder rock region, and I haven't left.

I will make a shout out to Flogging Molly's 'Drunken Lullabies' which got me into the Celtic Rock/Punk area.

I think it was "Court of the Crimson King". That song didn't push me in a direction so much as echo one I already had-- the world it came from is one I'm familiar with.
