Hmm, i have this Greatest Songs of Rock 'n Roll CD full of Rolling Stones, Foghat, Cream and so forth.

I would like that CD on a medium volume playing throughout the funeral and then just at the end, Bat Out of Hell goes on at a deafening volume while the guests stand up and run to the altar headbanging and/or singing along.

Nice to see some one mentioned Blind Melon. Browney points for them.

I got a few I would like to have played...
Linton Samuel Dawson - Porcupine Tree (More browney points going to anyone who's heard that track)
Life is too Short - Caliban
Abnegation - In Flames
Change (In The House Of Flies) - Deftones

I could mention pages of songs I would like to have played but I kinda feel like thats cheating

I already told people i know that I wanted "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen to play at my funeral...i know the song lyrically doesn't fit but I still thought it be hilarious.

If not that, than "Eulogy" by Tool

I imagine I'd get Sweet Little Sister - Skid Row, for the sake of nostalgia. It'd remind everyone of me.

Otherwise I'd so have Born To Die (Love song for the zombie apocalypse). Written by a friend of mine and soon to be recorded by us both, to the tune of "I Will Survive" because we're suckers for irony.

Born To Die.

At first I was afraid, I was scared to take the dive
I clung too hard to everything that kept me half alive
But then I took, a final gasping breath
And leapt into, the cold embrace of Death.

And I look out, at this cracked and dying land
All my life I tried, but now I understand
Without my life, I've found a brand new way to be
And a place, for a necrophilia tendency.

'Cause I know I, I know that I was born to die
There's no need, for me to stand and lie
I'm gonna be, hunched to one side and proudly cry
I will not hide, for I was born to die.

And now I'm grey, but that doesn't bother me.
I'm a lurcher, it's how I nurture, can't you see.
And I can see, written in the sky
Past the bio-hazard poisons and the burning in my eye
There's a place, a place for you and I
And plan to set us free, a plan to let us fly.

'Cause I know I, I know that I was born to die
There's no need, for me to stand and lie
I'm gonna be, hunched to one side and proudly cry
I will not hide, for I was born to die.

We're gonna bring, down the last of the human race.
Obliterate the bastards, leave the earth without a trace
Of the life which once clung to this soil
And create a haven for life beyond the mortal coil

And now there's no-one to bring me down and ask me why.
No-one to keep us apart my dear, and stop me reaching high.
I lie in your slightly fermented arms and it almost makes me cry
For I know we, I know that we were born to die.

Rite of Spring by Stravinsky just so I could get everyone to listen to its juicy, juicy goodness. Oh and the bassoon solo at the beginning has to be one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life... as a less music nerdy option "pictures of you" by the cure.

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day. There just seems to be something very appropriate (or not, as the case may be) about playing this song at a funeral. And I'd have the name of the song on a big screen so that everyone would know what is playing.

That's a good one! eulogy I mean, I love that song. I can imagine my family feeling oddly uncomfortable hearing it.
