Metal Gear Solid, on the Playstation. I don't care what anybody says, that game IS the best thing to ever happen to my child-hood and basically turned me into the person i am today. *salutes*

The original Spyro trilogy. The series did get ruined. The game-boy games were OK except for the Crash Bandicoot spin-off (another ruined series) and the first PS2 game wasn't too bad but then it went to shit. I blame the Legend of Spyro. What were they thinking?

Tibia
Settlers (the 2 and 3, new ones are awful)
Heroes (of might and magic III, mind you, not that silly game based on tv show)
GTA San Andreas
Civilization 4
War and Peace

And there are more really.

G-Darius, typical space shooter on the PS1, but I loved the hell out of it and beat it several times as a child.

Resident Evil 2. It's the greatest game ever made in my opinion. I know every nook and cranny of that game after speed running it for the last 13 years.

KotOR, actually. I went back and played that game only a couple of months ago, and damn well loved it, despite the fact that it was as dated as shit. Had more fun with it than I do with most recent games, anyway. :p

Elder Scrolls is my favourite series.
Morrowind defined RPGs for me, I have spent the better part of 8 years on that game.
Oblivion was a step backwards from Morrowind, removing many things that made it good. But I will still play it.
Skyrim looks to be a mix of the two and I cannot wait.

Silent Hill.

The first one was fantastic, the second one was brilliant, the third one was... interesting and the fourth one was different, but actually not as bad as other people have been saying it is.

Then the others happened. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Homecoming. As far as I've seen, if it doesn't have a number after it then it's not going to be anywhere near as good as the "original" series.

That being said, I'm still waiting with baited breath for Downpour and hoping for a miracle to happen that makes it one of the best in the "new" series. I know that it hasn't been treated very well after it was given up by the original team, but I'll still come back to it in hopes that I can recapture that feeling I got when I played the "original" series late at night with the lights off, hoping to make it to the end.

I love the mythology, even though they've abused Pyramid Head recently (seriously, he was supposed to have been dropped after SH:2, it was a one-time deal, give it a rest), I'm still fascinated by how everything fits together and all the various interpretations and conclusions you can draw from the events that happen in them. Even the most innocuous of quotes have been scrutinized beyond recognition and I've seen people write pages on the whole "they look like monsters to you?" quote alone. So, even though the voice acting is lame, it's very hard to deny that the whole thing is pretty neatly written.

Also, Devil May Cry. I honestly don't care about the story any more, as long as the combat system isn't ballsed up I'm happy. As far as I've seen, its got the most versatile and amazing combat system I've ever seen in a game that has never been surpassed. Look up any one of the combo videos to see just how well crafted the combat system is.
