I use my PS3 as a Blu-Ray player and to play exclusives and classics like Spyro, Xbox for exclusives and the occasional online play, and my PC for any game that interests me on Steam.

I've been primarily a PC gamer for years and years now.

I actually just built a new machine (some of you may have seen my thread about Crysis 3 and DX11, and if anyone is wondering I recently ordered a new card). This is where I think a lot of the PC elitism stems.

There's more of an attachment to the machine. I look at my computer and I know "I built that". I compared parts, prices, and ultimately put everything together. With my 360 I just plugged it in and said "Ok done" I think there is more of a connection with the hobby when you get that involved with it - and that goes for anything: Cars, Radios, Hunting, Art. When you put that kind of effort into something you get a stronger connection with it.

That being said I prefer PC because its my hobby - not just the gaming but PC's in general. I do a bunch of modding, modeling, graphics work, I make crappy little games with gamemaker and even write game design documents for fun. I'm probably a geek even by geek standards lol.

The only reason I own a 360 is for Halo (and yes, I'm a Halo junkie). The funny thing is, my 360 is sitting on the shelf above my computer and I play it on one of my monitors like its a pc game lol!

To each his own. I never understood this whole console war thing, can't we all just game along?

Edit: I also love the modding scene. Mods can add so much extra value to a game. For example in DA:O I have multiple extra classes and specializations, armors, weapons and Sten can have 2 specializations! The Star Wars mod for CoD4 was brilliant. Then there was dystopia, Black Mesa, NeoTokyo. Multiple amazing Fallout 3 mods. And there is also a LEGEND OF ZELDA MOD BEING MADE FOR SKYRIM ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-legend-of-zelda-project/news/the-legend-of-zelda-project-teaser ) - /dance!

I game entirely on PC for several reasons. First, I find it more comfortable and I can pay much more attention sitting at my desk, in a good chair rather than sprawling on the couch. Secondly, controllers. I hate the things. I am terrible at using them and after using them for an hour (or often less) I start getting physical pains and cramps in my hands, I do not find them at all ergonomic. Besides which, I have been gaming with a mouse and keyboard since my first Amiga back in 1988 and I am very used to mouse and keyboard. If most console games supported mouse and keyboard as an option rather than forcing the use of a controller I would be much more disposed towards playing them.

PC gamer.

Why? Why not to be honest;
1. More convenient. My PC boots very fast, and loads games and levels in games far faster than any console could hope to. This gives me more time to actually play the games. Additionally, it does not require me to use the family TV that the rest of my family are always using, whilst a console does [Or for me to buy a new TV and an extension to my room for somewhere to put it]. Being able to just walk into my room, press 1 button and have my entire library of games at my fingertips within seconds is great, and has no real restrictions ATM.
2. Better control scheme. KB+M are superior to a console controller. No arguments. Of course some people find console controllers easier to use. I've been typing since I was 2 years old, and have gotten damn good at it, so the KB+M combo is obviously my controller of choice, as well as being the best general controller for games [You can argue that a flight stick is better for flight sims and such, but the KB+M is consistently good and often the best controller for a given game type].
3. Better experience. Better graphics, mods, faster framerates that are more stable, faster loading times, better controls [Unless shitty port], widest selection of games and game genres - there's not a lot the PC isn't good for. Additionally customisable to how I want it to be via the use of programs like Rainmeter - I don't have to use the default for my Desktop if I feel its shitty, I can replace it with whatever I want.
4. Better cost efficiency. When the PS3 launched for $1000, I was given the option of a PS3, or a new PC. You can guess which one I chose. It'll be the same when the PS4 and such is released as well I'd guess. Spend $400 on a new console [Assuming they're intelligent this time], or get a new graphics card. Again, a fairly obvious choice.
5. What this guy said;

Completely true. It also comes with the added benefit of generally knowing what's gone wrong when something does go wrong, and being able to fix it, apart from being incredibly fun.

But yeah, main reasons for playing on the PC: It gives a better experience, and suits my needs better for convenience.

Nope, I'm sure we all do that. At least I do, though I'm terrible at modelling and texture work. I tend to stick to the more technical aspects of modding and game making/designing.

Mostly on my pc for online gaming and the vast amount of gaming capability it has, I also enjoy a good mmo, which consoles generally have not got any good ones
I used to play ps3 a lot before I got my pc, just general gaming and such
I find the PC to be much better in most ways, but there is obviously a tendency for people to prefer other platforms for different reasons
Also built my pc :D Always a nice thing

So why do you use the platform you do?
This generation I own a PC and an Xbox 360 - with a Nintendo Wii and a Playstation 3 being shared in some of the places I've lived. I bought the Xbox 360 with in the first year or soof launch due to Mass Effect orignally being annouced as an Xbox 360 exclusive. The PC has been with me for more than a decade now - it's not particularly high-end. It's current parts, when I bought them, probably didn't cost more than $700-800 with my really expensive peripherals and I keep it up to date at a fairly low cost (probably about $30 or $40 a year on average).

The reason I use the platform I do is more to do with the reasons I don't use the other. The Xbox 360 is an unreliable piece of poorly designed garbage. Ignoring the RRoD (which I really shouldn't be) I have to pull it a part regularly for various maintenace to keep it in a semi-usable state (fun fact - everybody I know who has owned a 360 has had to buy a second one due to break downs, including those who have owned the more recent model, with the expception of me and that's only because I refuse to pay for such a horrible system). Thats not to mention the fact basic online content is locked behind an arbitary pay wall, it sounds like a jet, overheats like it's in a jet's engine and the rest of the horrible business practices surrounding the 360. It never should have been shipped.

As for my PC? It's not particularly notable. Over the years it's been used for graphic design, video editing and disappearing from the world for days at a time. It's been reliable and flexible with a much larger selection of games than either of the primary consoles. I like being able to switch from tasks to games without switching the machine I'm on. I've never been happier with an investment.

The Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3? Well, I loathed the Nintendo Wii almost as I did the Xbox 360. That said, it was reliable, had a larger selection of exclusives than the other consoles and I didn't waste $500 (not including preipherals and display like the PC) like I did with the 360 seeing as it wasn't mine. The Playstation 3 is a whole other beast. It's been reliable, it's quiet, plays blu-rays, has some nice exclusives, less evil bussiness practices and I don't have to sit there installing new games like I do my PC or fixing it again like my 360. Very impressed, though I still use the PC more.

i mostly use my PC i really like it and there is no point in building them if i cant use them and i love building them i would start a new one as soon as i finished the last one if i could but the limits on hardware and my wallet prevent me
plus i love lording my vast amounts of processor power over the poor console plebeians as the god i am for PC is like urban mech an almighty chariot of gaming doom.... err that looks like it came out serious ...
also because i can play 2 games at once on dual screens and not tax the processor or ram

other than that i have a PS3 because i like the controller but its a glorified DVD player now and soon its going to lose that crown to a PC im building to do DVD's and bluray and record TV and stream movies and tv shows and the PS3 sorta monopolises the TV and i only really have time to game when other people want to watch TV

Ps3 mostly for PSN+, exclusives and pretty much everything.

Then there's that neglected Xbox360 that I share with my roommate.

handhelds

PSVita because it was on irresistible sales. I still play P4G from time to time

I'm 360 but that is more because I can't be bothered to get a PS3 and I don't know enough about computers to get a decent gaming one without being ripped off.

That said, my 360 and I are currently not on speaking terms as the disc drive no longer works properly and I keep putting off getting a new one.

Mainly a PC gamer though I do own a PS3.

Spend most of my gaming hours on my PC, it's my go to platform for gaming.

Well I used to be a console gamer before I got to grips with PC, for the unknowledgeable the transition can be awfully daunting.

But after I got over the hump consoles just don't make sense, my PC has the functionality of all the other devices combined it is also completely open and flexible, so why would I have anything else.

Before I say mine I must point out that this is not a thread to start console wars or be a PC elitist.
EVERY thread is a thread to be PC elitist, because its not something you can "just post", its a lifestyle. get over it.

i dropped consoles the moment i gt my hand on a PC. it is superior in every way for me. and i can do so much more than games on it. Besides, i would kill people if they tried forcing me to drop mouse+keyboard setup. Besides, PC is cheaper, while giving better product.

PC exclusively.

I didn't have my own computer at all for a while, relied on my phone and my roommate's comp when she wasn't using it. So when I moved to a new apartment, I needed a computer anyway and wanted to get back into gaming. The choice between buying a good comp vs. buying a decent comp plus a game console plus a TV (that wouldn't be hooked up to anything but the game console) was a no-brainer.

PC just feels easier for me. It's in my room so I don't have to share a TV and it does basically everything. I like to run my games as high as they go, but that doesn't mean I think a console version is the "shitty" version. When I get bored of a game I can usually just switch to another one without a disc change or I can just hop on the internet. If something goes wrong and my computer craps out on me I don't have to throw the whole thing away or send it back to get it refurbished. That happened to my first Xbox (which was an elite) I couldn't be bothered to send it in AGAIN. My preference is based not on the hardware, but the ease of maintenance, which is the fault of the manufacturers of the consoles and not the consoles themselves. Plus PC games are usually cheaper and F2P games are pretty common and Steam sales are the shit.

I own an Xbox 360, I also have a PS1 currently set up because I got really into final fantasy. I would love to play PC games, but my family are technophobes so I got a PC much later then everybody else anyway and I have never owned a PC or laptop since that can run any games. I am getting a new computer but it is an imac so I can get logic pro, and from what I understand people haven't really figured out porting games to mac yet.

I've got a PC, a PS3, 360 and Wii. Of the four, my preferred platform is the PC for performance and convenience of being able to browse the internet while playing games.

My PS3 is seeing a lot of use seeing how I bought it only recently. Basically, it's going to replace my Xbox for online multiplayer. My Xbox will still see some use with single-player multiplats for the most part, though.

My Wii doesn't see much use, but I plan to dust it off when I pick up Xenoblade Chronicles or No More Heroes 2 or something.

[small]I own a PC and a PS3.

I primarily game on PC because I find that gaming with a mouse and keyboard comes more naturally to me in games where precision is a must (first person shooters and strategy games as two prime examples). In addition to this, with the addition of PC games with controller support, I can easily switch between the two controller inputs as required. Then, there's the fact that with gaming platforms like Steam, I always have access to games I have bought without needing to turn my room upside down to find the box or CD/DVD.

I own a PS3 for console-specific games, and because the PS3 gives me a 'back-up plan' if my PC should fail for any reason. The PS3 doesn't require constant hardware upgrades, which is another huge plus. I also find that single player games seem to play much better on the PS3, so that's another reason why I tend to play games on it - but again, I don't play it nearly as frequently as I game on my PC.[/small]

PS3 is my console of choice. Have a 360 as well, but I've hardly touched it since I bought the PS3 four years ago.
Prefer it due to the better looking interface, free online(if I should choose to play online, which I don't really), doesn't sound like an airplane and for the much, much better exclusives.
Grew up with PS and PS2 as well, so being able to play PS games and PS2 HD releases is awesome. The blu-ray doesn't hurt either, though I've never really gotten into that fad.

The only think I dislike is the controller. The L2/R2 buttons are worthless and the sticks were painful until I got some rubber attachments to put on them. Had trigger attachments for the L2/R2 buttons, but they broke when the controller fell into the floor.
