Have you had any dreams involving yourself in the video game industry? I have, and it was recently crushed.

You see, my friend and I, are big fans of Assassin's Creed. One day, during Geometry class, we launched into a discussion of how we think King Arthur could have existed in the Creed world, and in fact, Excalibur was a piece of Eden. We went on with this for about two weeks, taking constant notes on it.

After heavy speculation on it, we sent an email off to Ubisoft about our idea... and received a very kindly worded, "Go fuck yourselves." They said to us that they liked our idea, but it was a little too rough for them to work with, and that they already have the whole series planned out, and thanked us for our time.

That dream was crushed for sure. But now, we've decided we're going to completely change the idea, and maybe pitch it to another dev or two (probably lesser known ones) or design it ourselves.

If I can get the email from my friend, I'll post it here.

So, fellow gaming enthusiasts, have you ever had a dream about designing a game, or having a hand in a game? Even more, have you had it crushed like we did?

Sorry for your crushed dream mate.
I'm pretty certain that if you were the kid of their boss, or at least a co-worker, they would've thought about the idea. It's actually amazing that you even got a reply.
With the risk of sounding way too realistic for here, I'll say that there isn't a person in the industry who would take a suggestion from a random fan seriously.

On-topic, I have dreams like that almost every day. They mostly include Aleister from Dragon Age and I think I will stop there. :D

I don't really remember mine, but I do remember that it involved Runescape, which to me is pretty bad. I don't know how I could've dreamed up something like that.

I've never had any great ambitions to be involved in the gaming industry, however I did once consider making a game for a competition. I then discovered that it was a lot of hard work, so I gave up.

Oh we knew it was beyond unlikely to even expect a reply, let alone them even BOTHERING to go over the idea. I was stoked when he told me that they replied within three days. To us, three days meant they actually read it and thought about it, at least briefly, before sending us off. It may have crushed us, but it did give us an awesome feeling.

I once wanted to create a short 2-D platformer, in which you switched between two characters, one a knight in golden armor who took names and kicked ass, and a rogue in a torn, battered cloak, who struggled to survive against hordes of monsters by hiding in the shadows.

I wanted it to be about 5 minutes long with original mario-level graphics, but it turns out that even that was aiming too high.

Not Zefvar or whatever the bisexual elfs name was?...I'll stop there as well.

Also, I've had dreams of Dead Rising 2, WoW and any other game I played non-stop that day.

I've had a couple dreams related to games. Most recently, I started to think about a new crime business game, sort of like the Godfather games.

two and a half years before the first saw game was anounced i sent a letter to lionsgate with the idea of a saw game. it incorporated many of the things the original had, but it also had many things it didnt. like multiplayer where one person plays as jigsaw and sets the traps and the rest of the players play as victims. i even told them that a cool idea would to name it "SAW: Its time to play the game."

Sadly i never got a reply till years later i read that they were coming out with the game. I have never played it (due to moral outrage) but my friend, whom helped with some of the ideas, has and he said it sucks... So i dont know if i should be happy or angry.

Where do I start? Both of these are as if I was in the game mind you.

Recently, after playing some MoH, I had a dream my friend and I were on Kabul Ruins. We were looking for enemies, but instead of enemies, we found Asian hookers. We didn't know what they wanted, and some of them were cross dressers too. One pulled a weapon and we shot him/her. Then the others pulled out AK-47s and a standoff insued, which ended with us being taken hostage, but then Blackhawks came and I woke up. I assume they fucked up. Thats just the most recent dream.

There was also a CoD4 based dream. It was on Backlot. There was several of us stacked up against a wall about to breach something. My clan leader told a friend to breach, which was obvious suicide. He said he wouldn't do it. My clan leader then ordered me to execute him for not following orders. Without hesitation, I pulled out my pistol and straight up murdered him. I told my group of friends this a few weeks later. My clan leader, being in the Army, his response was "hell ya!" The friend I executed, whom I know in real life, was not as enthusiastic, for obvious reasons. And they still bring it up.

You know all those games that claim to, 'allow the player to completely change the world depending on their actions?'

I hope to have something to do with a game where, THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS!

Seriously, think of ONE game where that actually works.

Mass Effect - No choices at all, other than dialogue of course.

Fallout - You can kill Bill or not kill Bill but whatever happens it only affects Bill.

Deus Ex - Minor choices change dialogue, items your given etc, influences some possible actions further down the track.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series - I dont remember these games ever claiming to 'allow the player to completely change the world depending on their actions', and they dont, other than the kickass 'bad' ending you can get and faction attitudes.

I seem to find myself winding up in TF2 style dreams as of late.... Either that or just being hunted. Always hunted...
