Any "sandbox" game
Me too. I got loads of sandbox games only to find that half of them suck horribly (Godfather, GTAIV, Scarface...)

I don't have any problem with purchasing games, because I generally don't do it that often. I do however lack the willpower to stop playing a game once a started, even when it's 230 in the morning and I have to get up at 6 for school.
This is mine, and it's compounded by the fact that I like to play games like Civilization which seem explicitly designed to make hours pass like minutes.

I have a weakness for MMO and RPG games.

MMOs I just have a lot of fun with, and I like the community aspect of the whole thing.

RPGs, I love leveling up, I love the gameplay(usually), and I just generally have tons of fun with it.

...So at least my weakness is for things I enjoy.

I have a tendency to buy anything in a bargain bin. No matter how bad and pointless the game might be. Well, okay, at least I didn't buy this: http://www.astragon.de/productsimages/Bagger-Simulator 2008 Packshot 3D_final.jpg
I believe you have discovered a Nazi toture device my friend!

My weakness would have to be games that offer you a large selection of ways to fight(combos, styles, weapons, etc) even though I know I will propbably end up using only a few that actually are practical/are'nt ridiculous to pull off.

The Need for Speed franchise. The games progressively get worse, but I always seem to buy them. With the new games that are coming out I know that it'll be the same old dribble. They'll just add more cars, and it'll have a slightly different story, but I'll still end up buying/playing them.
Heh, that's my dad's weakness. Except then he complained about the newest game because he had to use the control sticks which he hates. So now we have a game he wont let me play because he thinks he can get his money back for it.

I'm a sucker for fee stuff. If the DLC is free then I'll get it. I've considered getting DLC for games I don't even own just because it's free.

I'm a sucker for the GTA games and for the Pokemon games...

The stupid thing is i buy them, and try them for about an hour or so, and then i just don't touch them again.. GTA i haven't found intriguing since "VICE CITY" really, and the Pokemon games are kind of hit or miss. I loved Blue..Couldn't get into Silver...Loved the initial GBA titles, but haven't been able to play really any other title since then...

Choosing games just because of it's genre.

"A snowboarding/ski game? Yes!"

it was a game about ski jumping. It. Sucked.

I was the same until Tenkaichi 2 when I realised there was no fucing different from the first one.

Star Wars games, the majority of them are good (Rebel Assault, Force Commander, and Battle for Naboo being the dirge), but I normally buy them regardless of review ratings...Battle for Naboo was a freebie, the store couldn't get rid of that POS for nothing so it was strapped to SW Star Fighter as a 2 for 1.

I bought the X-wing complete pack (3.5 floppy) in 1994 I didn't even have a PC yet until 1996.

If it says anywhere that it's a "Strategy RPG" i'll look the back of the box.

If i look the back of the box and in any shape or form i say "Hummm kinda looks like Final Fantasy Tactics / Disgaea / Phantom Brave/ FIre Emblem / Ogre Battle / Front Mission" i'll buy

...

=(

I'm weak that way

Tangible upgrades. This is mainly the reason why I enjoy games with RPG elements, as I love watching my character/s going from wearing rags to golden Space Marine armour.

When my friends claim that a system is so great, such as the Nintendo Wii, and they brag and brag until I have to get one, then it turned out that the Wii wasn't so great after all, no offense to those who enjoy playing the Wii.
