Vicas the chozo Vicas? Or are we talking about different Vicases?
Oh I think we're talking about the same Vicas. Last LP I saw of his was where he played Super Mario 64 with his feet. I nearly died laughing, especially when he had slowbeef and Diabetus guest-star.
We are. I've only seen Slowbeef's Prime LPs and Vicas was the best part of those LPs for me in many ways. I always got so annoyed when Slowbeef got stuck so Vicas being around was definitely a good thing.
Definitely. For such a cocky player, Slowbeef got stuck an awful lot and would have had to consult Gamefaqs nearly every video without Vicas' guidance. I'm surprised that the Chozo was able to remember nearly 95% of Prime's walkthrough and secrets, especially after he confessed that it had been a while since he had last played.
Probably because he's AMAZING!!! I have seriously considered looking up some of his LPs, which I rarely do without recommendation.

Paulsoaresjr was my first <3 ;-)

By that I of course mean that the first let's play of anything I ever watched was his 'How to Survive and Thrive in Minecraft' series. He's got just the right mix of crazy and grown-up to be awesome. Plus his guides are really good. It think the testament to that is that I watch his stuff just for fun now.

Highly Recommended!

I was stuck on a section in Pokémon Leafgreen, so I searched for walkthroughs on Youtube and found Chuggaaconroy's LP of Firered. Then, I watched a few more of his LPs, and after that came ProtonJon, DeliciousCinnamon, JoshJepson, Lucahjin, AttackingTucans, and Stephenplays.

Hey, if you truly enjoy the game and have something worth saying, go for it!

He really is. He doesn't fall into that semi-obnoxious category of Let's Players where when they die or something irritating happens (either through the game being poorly designed or the player just being a bit ham-handed with the control) they shout out something like, "Why am I doing this?!" or "This game is impossible!" He's very calm and collected, has interesting bits of backstory to the development process or little known facts about the game, and seems like a generally down-to-earth kinda guy.

I was looking around youtube when I stumbled across one of Chuggaaconroy's videos. I can even remember which one. I think it was chapter 3, part 4 of his Paper Mario lets play. I was around 7 at the time. It was basically my first introduction to gaming. I think its safe to say that in the long run, it was life-changing. After that, I sort of found a few other lets players, but Chugga is and will probably always be my favorite, because he brings a sort of... sincerity to the table that other people don't, like he's a friend playing a game next to you on the couch. I don't really know how to describe it.

Dunno if I have anything worthwhile to say, but yes I'm having fun with it. Reading what you wrote in answer Revnak, you'd probably/definitely hate it =P

Best of luck for the LP :) Feel free to message me with a link to it and I'll give it a listen once you've uploaded.

Someone linked Totalbiscuit on this forums, and I thought he was neat so I subbed. Then he started his terraria LP and introduced me to OMFGcata who I also subbed to, and as well as the yogscast with their magicka playthrough. I think most of the channels I'm subbed to are a result of TB collabing or liking their videos :p

Mmm... My introduction to let's plays. I was looking for ... something, and came across Ultra J Man who did a few let's plays. Ghosts and Goblins was the first one I watched. I think it was his first time playing it, and he made me laugh... I then watched a bunch of his other stuff, but I still find his 2 hour and 30 minute UN-edited video against the last boss of Ironsword: Wizard and warrior's 2 is one of my favorites. I watched a bunch of his older ones but Ghouls and Ghosts and Ironsword are my favorites. I don't like watching most other LPers, either they're more skilled, or able to endure more crap. I'll check out a Let's play if I'm curious about a game, or want to watch someone play Ghosts and Goblins, but i prefer the let's plays that show you failures rather than just the prefect runs.

Mangaminx was my first experience with let's plays. Her Amnesia playthrough was hilarious. Her comedy doesn't seem forced like others, her european accent is nice on the ears, and I love how she talks to the player characters sometimes.

Someone on here linked to Scorchy's KOTOR II LP as part of a discussion on why Kreia was such a fantastic character. At first I didn't really get the concept but then I ended up reading the whole thing, and a bunch of others besides.

I only really go for screenshot LPs, partly because I read a lot of the early ones in the background at work :p

Sorry... I really do NOT get the whole purpose of lets play. If I wanted to see a game played, I would play it. I can honestly see no purpose of needing commentary by random people.

Such a bizarre thing to me, Really.

Ah yes, the noble screenshot RP. I remember looking at a Dark Seed screenshot RP and I thought it seemed like a fairly good game. I lacked the computer know-how to be able to emulate it, so I watched a video LP of it... and swiftly learned that I was mistaken. Dark Seed is difficult to stomach, don't waste your time with it.

There are several reasons to explain LP, really.

-Someone doesn't have the cash to buy a console/the game but is interested in a specific game and would like to see how it would unfold. Silent LPs are great if you're interested in seeing someone play a 100% run of something, letting the viewer watch all the cut-scenes play out quickly.

-Someone is just unskilled enough to beat the game but would like to see the conclusion fold out as if they had beaten it themselves. I'm personally too much of a newb to get through some of the sneaking sections in Beyond Good and Evil, but I loved the story and wanted to see, not read, how the story played out.

I'm sure there are more reasons that people can think of, but those are the two that most immediately spring to mind.

The first Lets play I watched was before lets plays were really a thing and it was a guy playing I Wanna Be The Guy whilst listening him slowly descend into madness trying to beat the game.

Let's Play Sonic 2006 by Pokecapn and the rest. After that it was mostly group LPs: Freelance Astronauts, Steampunk Abortionists, Tipping 40's....

Most of them have disbanded though.

I like that, but I also like the impromptu humor of a blind LP. It gets really complicated for me because of this. Personally, I like a mixture of competence and incompetence in LPs. That's why the one I'm about to do will be with me and a couple friends. We'll make sure at least one of us is familiar with the game before we begin and only one of us is anywhere near terrible at video games. I do plan to practice like crazy before we do any notoriously hard games though. Super Meat Boy has been considered, but I really don't want us to wind up like the majority of those LPs where they just cry and scream the whole time.

I do believe it started with watching Cloud8745's LPs of Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. I've been vaguely interested in the medium since. However, I have found that Screenshot Lps have been a wonderful way of experiencing them as well. As of late, The Dark Id has been a favorite of mine. His LP's of the Drakengard games and the Resident Evil series are comedic gold; as well as being very in-depth and informative.
