Erm, Pittsburgh was the base of Andrew Carnegie? That's one part of local history I know. In his plan to become super-rich through the steel industry he made the entire city cloaked in smog because of pollution. And while the steel industry suffered and died, creating a huge recession brought on by a perfect storm of foreign competition, corporations being bought out, and deregulation by Ronald Reagan, at least it's now cleaner here. So I guess the lesson is self-destruction can lead to a better picture to put on a postcard.
And it was once the home of Andy Warhol, the painter.
Also, I'm positive I've been ninja'd, but there are 10 pages right now. I haven't the time to read them all, so sorry if you're re-reading something.
