I like it, and I suppose I'm an oddity in that I prefer the multiplayer to CoD4's. Probably because I have friends in real life and actually appreciate the offline multiplayer.

Personally I found the game to be very enjoyable, to the point that I have copies for my PS3 and my 360. The campaign is quite short and many people don't like the story but the game play is still solid. I had a blast while it lasted. Spec Ops is a hit or miss with many people, I played through the whole thing with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Wouldn't mind seeing more missions in the future. The multiplayer can be fun and aggravating, mainly due to many boosters, and people just ruining the experience for the other players. I'm done with the game now though, moving onto Bad Company 2 when it comes out.

Of course, everybody plays FPS's for the STORY. Because that is exactly what FPS are made for. A FPS is not good if the story doesn't make sense. That's just so confusing.
Oh it's also unrealistic. It's like a Micheal Bay movie. They should have taken the action sequences out so it will be more realistic. Because realism makes everything better. Campaign should also be longer, cuz people usually play these games for da campaign.

OMFG the multiplayer is sooo unbalanced. Because it's not like there is sooo much variation for classes or anything and you cannot counter everything. You also have to use tactics which make it worse. Oh and you can get a nooook. Which makes you win and it is soooo easy to get a nooook. Everyone gets one all the time. The other killstreaks are unbalanced too cuz dat helicopter always kills me. They should have had a perk nd a weapon that can destroy it efficiently. The maps are gay cuz people camp and there is no way to counter them.

Oh and Valve is soooo much betta than Infinity Ward!!!1!

Eh, not bad. The single player was fun and energetic. Don't play the multiplayer anymore, it's lost its charm.
Also, Vianyte, are you being sarcastic or serious, because I honestly cannot tell. My guess (and hope) is the former.

Great online, weak single player campaign. I am more of a single player campaign guy, so I see it as more of a flop just based on that (which is a bit harsh I realize).

I have played the Co-op missions at a mates house and they were quite good. The weapons seem to be nicely customisable as well, which is a bonus. I would not play the online though, people seem to take it too seriously.

Single player was short and the story was stupid and boring, especially when I found the motivation for it. The game play was solid but fairly repetative. It had some cool action sequences, but nothing I havent seen before.

Co-op is a ton of fun when playing with a mate and there's a decent variety in the levels but I feel the levels could have been fleshed out a bit more.

Multiplayer is fairly standard stuff. The maps are average and the unlock stuff has all been done before. The only new think about is the extra killstreaks and they can just lead to an already overbalanced game be more so. However, I had some fun with it for a couple of weeks, when I could find a game.

Overall, I think it's a fairly bland FPS with one decent feature I can replay for a decent amount of time.

I played Splitscreen multiplayer against some kids that obviously play the game alot. Well I died alot, especially since they were ganging up on me.
My thoughts:
To the losers MW2 only throws bullshit. Airstrikes and Supplies and a fucking NUKE?! It really pissed me off.
Conclusion:
One less reason to buy a 360.

Now, I played this game for about a hour or so on my neighbors PS3 (NOTE: Only played multiplayer) and, either I'm not good at this game, or some guns seem a little too batshit powerful (Like that A-12 automatic shotgun, what the Hell is up with that thing!?) Anyway, the game is by no means bad, but, I'll stick to CS: S.

First off if someone has created a topic like this I apologise.

Right so I want every one's honest opinion on Modern Warfare 2. The reason I'm asking is that I've just been called a wanker for not wanting to buy the game. Is it really as good as people say it is or is it just another bland fps?
Good campaign with great pace and action, but the story is confusing. Spec ops nice touch, with varied styles and challenges, but wish that there was an online match-maker for them to complete the harder ones. Fun multiplayer with leveling up being great incentive for playing. Wish campers were fewer. That's about it. I'd say buy it if you have a decent online connection, else just rent it, as the campaign is short.

Modern Warfare 2 very much seems like a game made for noobs. The noob tube no longer takes up a perk and with bling you don't have to settle for iron sights. There's also the thumper for added noob tubes. Also, shotguns are a sidearm so everyone and their dog's chew toy uses them. Lastly, and most of all, all the glitches people exploit. Think of all the problems this game had. Javelin glitch, infinite care packages, care package super sprint speeds, one man army glitches.. . plus there are probably some smaller ones I'm missing.

Having said all that, I still play it a ton though, I just don't take it as seriously as COD 4 or World at War.

It is fun and I enjoy it. I somewhat dislike multiplayer because of all the wall hacks that pop up quite alot, but otherwise I am fine. Dedicated servers soon<3.

MW2 is no, just no. As some others said, it's just a repacking of MW1 with a big glowing sign that says this is fun. Honestly the fact that people are so easily drawn to something like is the reason Halo 3 was a big success despite it actually being a big meh. People need to stop being trend following turds and play more, well less recycled games. Great example, demon's souls is unknown to the general public due to it not being main stream and the fact that anyone mainstream who took the time to play it calls it shit because he couldn't get though it without dieing while bragging about how he beat halo on legendary without dieing. Back to the topic though, the game, it's just not worth the money if you played MW1, if you didn't play that, I applaud you for NOT doing wtf everyone else is doing and being a man.

While the online gets really annoying, having to deal with the annoying people and their glitching and camping etc, etc and they probably still have some balancing problems as far as the strength of weapons and such, the game is still a good buy. The online is fun nonetheless and it will keep you busy for many hours. And thats after the campaign, which on veteran presents a challenge if you like that, and there is also a co-op special ops mode. Very fun, and it gives you a lot to do.
Id say if you like fps games and/or you liked COD4, you should buy it.

Modern Army games are the fad right now, similar to how WW2 games were early in the 2000s.

MW2 SP had great scripted events, some of the best I've seen in a game, and since there's no cut scenes involved I can see the lessons learn in Half-Life have carried on well. The main plot and story though wasn't that great. Actually down right silly and something you'd except in an 80s movie back when the soviet union was still around, so another words, the story just doesn't fit for our times. The gameplay is fun, but it felt way to segmented just like the first MW game, and I didn't like that.

As for the MP, it's a fragfest, you either love it or you don't, I prefer Halo 3 MP over MW.
