Not sure, but probably a more modern war.

Better equipment, better training, and a better chance of survival overall.

The rising in 1916, and the Irish war of independence, fight for freedom.

The battle of Britain, in a spitfire, be one of the few things holding the nazi's back.

The battle of Stalingrad, Stalingrad was a major turning point in WW2, it could be said that the defenders of staligrad helped saved the world.

The US war of indpendence, fighting for freedom again.

The rwandan civil war, The RPF could have stopped the genocide sooner if they had gotten control of rwanda sooner.

Spanish-American war, battle of Manilla Bay: US Side.

There was one casualty on the American side, and it was from heat stroke.

It was also where the term "fire at will" got started

American Revolution, with the Brits. I firmly believe that the only reason that the Americans won was that the British couldn't be arsed to fight them properly. That would change with me leading them...

Or any battle in the Crusades, with the Saracens.

Chinas era of three kingdoms.

Battle for Chi'Bi.. I'd die to find out what really happened there..

Which side, I doesn't even really care for as long I get to know what row of events caused such a disasterous loss for a fleet several times the size of the victorious party..

Though I would welcome the chance to witness the work of one of the greatest strategist ever walking this world.

Battle of Ulm on the French side because they destroyed the Austrian and took 30,000 Austrian soldiers captive. Now that's a victory.

The Six Day War of 1967, on Israel's side. Preferably flying a jet. It would be amazing to see one of the most efficeint military operations, probably the most efficeint modern one, in action. To conquer 18,000 square miles in Six Days, its an almost unimaginable feat. Not to mention the Israeli's killed 25 of their enemies for everyone one of them that died. A war of efficiency, it would have been amazing to behold, especially form the sky.

I'd like to be a Janissary taking part in the Ottoman conquest of the Byzantine Empire, specifically the siege of Constantinople.

The reason we lost, was due to America being a secondary objective. We were much more fussed with our Indian colonies. If you look at the numbers, I think we actually committed less than a quarter of our military might at the time to fighting over America.

Another factor, commonly forgotten is that without the French's help ( They destroyed the small fleet we sent to provide supplies ) The Americans would have lost.

OT: Battle of Britain. This successfully stopped England from being invaded and nulled the threat Germany presented to our Country. I'd love to fly a spitfire, so much British heritage there.

The Battle of Sedgemoor, 6th July 1685, was the last battle ever to be fought on English soil, part of the battle field was the back garden of my childhood home (where my parents still live) and my ancestors fought in it (or at least we have now collected enough circumstantial evidence to say that they did). You probably haven't heard of it, but you may have heard of the Monmouth Rebellion and if you know anything about the history of the period you will have heard of Judge Jeffreys and the Bloody Assizes, which was the aftermath of the battle.

I would be on the side of the Duke of Monmouth, because I would be a peasant, and that is where I would fight. And I would tell them to take a different route to the battle field when they tried to start their surprise attack so that (a) they weren't tired after travelling through the marshes and (b) they didn't come across a Royalist scouting party, which gave the game away and sealed their fate.

Not a battle many have heard of, which I've never understood, but there we go.

The Italian Campaign (WWII) as a Royal Marine Commando. Just to be able to see what my grandpa saw. He was one of the first commandos after their formation in 1942.

Either that or The Battle of Stirling Bridge as part of Wallace's army (obviously). It being a big part of Scotland's history afterall.

WWII on Germany's side. Morally opposed to them, but I'm a fairly competitive person and winning at those odds would have made me happy.

Alternatively, if my participation could actually change historical events I would see if I couldn't prevent the fall of Rome as a general. Imagine if the Dark Ages never happened? We could be living on Mars by now...

EDIT: Spelling.

Second Sino-Japanese war. For my home country I suppose. Although I honestly don't like the prospect of being in any war.

I think a war, battle, and fight are all very different things.

I was going to come in hear and describe a fight between two tranny prostitutes i once saw. (worked in a jail)
But nope you're talking about wars.

Which is ridiculous there are no good wars. The righteous and the wicked fall alike as do their mothers and children.
